Just a Little Chickadee and Puppy News.

HI, This afternoon we went up to Onancock for a while. I took the bottom photo there at the wharf. I haven't done much painting today so I started this little chickadee. I've wet part of the top, dropped in thalo blue, and added kosher and ice cream salt . This will make little star shapes of snow. He looks cold and I feel it,too.

Puppy news. It's sad again. The dog,Molly was supposed to be pregnant but she wasn't ... so no puppies(we waited and waited). I was so very disappointed. So I've called someone else and they are trying to get their dog pregnant.. not in heat yet, when they do , they'll save me a yellow one. It's going to be a while. But when the puppies are born I'll get to go visit them until they can leave their mother and they are close enough, that will be great. I'm trying to be positive about it. I wanted you to know.

So tell me what you are painting. talk tomorrow.Diana

  1. I know whenever your puppy-meant-to-be comes to you it will be well worth the wait. Meanwhile, I know how empty your house can feel without a loved pet. Thinking of you.

  2. Hi Diana. You know, I see yellow labs so often in the puppy stores (such as Petland and Happiness is Pets). I know that we're told we shouldn't buy puppies from those places as it breeds puppy mills. But I have, in fact, bought puppies there. Why? Because it isn't those poor puppies living in those small cages fault. They are so loving too. I know that when there are no customers, the girls who work there take turns bringing the puppies out and letting them run and play and interact with them. Yet it breaks my heart to see them having to live in cages until someone loves them enough to bring them home. For me too, I know that for two of the breeds I've had over the years, I don't think I can ever own that breed again. Why? I guess because they will remind me too much of the three I lost of those breeds. They will never be like their earlier brethren and I wouldn't want them to compete against ghosts.

I'm not at all making a statement about your desire for a yellow lab, so please don't think so. But what a joy it would be for one of those gorgeous puppies to come home to you for the holidays. Often times the older of the puppies in those places are price reduced drastically as well. Just a thought for you.

I'll probably take heat for this comment and I really do not mean to step on anyone's toes with my thoughts. It hurts so much to see those dogs in those cages for me. And they do come with a free vet check to alleviate any health fears.

The chickadee is coming along beautifully. I tried salt before and I had to really scrape it off the paper when the paint dried. What is the secret?

  3. Thank you Carol, We do have Rudy, she is a 17 year old kitty. Thanks Sherry, I know what you mean. We don't have pet shops nearby. They always make me sad because I want to take them out of their cages. Just brush the salt off as best you can after it dries. I did have a student who ate it off but he was 5. HA HA. Can you imagine! love to you,Diana
