My finished watercolor Wisteria and Hummingbird

hi, I finished  my wisteria watercolor this week. To me the flowers  flowed better, I just added a little  detail  and that felt right. The 2nd photo  is me and the 3 paintings  I have at the Norfolk Academy Art Show.  The big opening is this Saturday April 28 from 6 to 8 . You all are invited if you are nearby. The 3rd photo  is my Sadie.  Tonight we are having  a small thunderstorm and she and I have been out in the rain, me watching the beautiful sky, she tending to important doggie things.  Love to you, Diana

Bad Week

Hi, what a week, last week was. First the picture above,  this is what  I painted  today, have you ever painted along with  a favorite  artist on you tube. Janet Rodgers is very loose and wonderful.  Remember I took a class from  her and just loved it. I cannot sell or claim this painting as it is from her demo. But it helped me loosen up which is needed today.

Last week I heard at the grocery store that my dear friend, Doris Mae Custis was dying soon, like any minute.  I grabbed a bunch of bright tulips, so she could see them and chocolate pudding.  I went as soon as I put my groceries  mostly  up. Rev.Rob, and Linda were there. Doris Mae couldn't move, open her eyes or talk, but I know  she understood us.Rob said a beautiful prayer. I got to tell her how much I loved her and I cried all the way home and more. She died the next day. I am thankful I got to see her.  I made an apple cake for the after service dinner. We had 3 nights of revival, at church which they asked me to work in the kitchen.  Then Ruth Custis,  another dear friend passed away, another funeral, Apple cake and so many more tears, how blessed I have 2 friends, these 2 dear dear ladies.

My art reflects what my heart feels.  Does Yours? Love to each of you and hugs too,Diana

Frozen watercolors and plenty of snow!

13 inches of snow,  for us that was amazing

Frozen watercolors
Hi, last week we had 13 inches of snow here on the Eastern Shore of Va. Living on one of the back roads is pretty but can be very icy. We were snowed in for 3 days. I froze  a few washes, just do your washes then quickly get them outside in 20 degree weather.  Weigh them down so they don't  blow away. Wait overnight and look sometimes there are ice crystals on the paper.  Bring it in gently and let dry completely.  It is so amazing.  Of course then I have to decide what to do with the background.

I have been painting a commission, can't share it with  you . But I am painting, Sadie, our Labrador ate one of my newest brushes, luckily just the handle so I duck taped it back on. Ha ha....

Wishing each of you a Blessed  and Happy New Year, my love to you, Diana
