Mule Watercolor and Rock Church Art Festival Tomorrow!

Mule,8x10,original watercolor,framed $99.

Hi ! I just put the finishing touches on my "Mule". I had to add some color for his blue ear to define it and add more black on the nose. I used the granulated Luna Black of Daniel Smith paint for his nose. Love the gritty look of it. I'll frame this today for the show tomorrow. Rock Church Art Festival,Melfa,Va. from 10am-4pm. The weather is going to be perfect. We'll have to take the tent because it's outside but it will be fun to be with my art friends and hope to see lots of people there. Hope you each have a wonderful weekend. Here's Sadie. She's been watching the rain come down this morning sitting on the porch. Love to each of you,Diana

Catching Up a Little and What do I paint now?

My booth at Art on the Farm is pictured here. Each artist got 1/2 a tent to display their work. This was this past weekend. Check out my facebook page to see more photos of the show.

Here's the 2 paintings I'm taking to The Hermitage tomorrow. It's the ESAL(Eastern Shore Art League)painting exchange,we do this about every 3 months. New work goes up in the halls for the residents and their guest to enjoy and anyone may buy them there.
Here is Sadie, she took a bug to bed last night. A large beetle, she loves to discover new creatures. This morning she hopped around with a frog in the orange blossom bush. Yes-- ha ha. right smack dab in the middle of the bush. It was shaking and then a white tail would appear, more shaking. ha ha. Sadie does keep me smiling. She's napping now. I"m still so very tired and sore from the show this weekend. We have another this upcoming Saturday at the Rock Church Art Festival in Melfa,Va. What do I paint now?? Love to each of you,Diana

ESO Watercolor Class on Painting Dog Portraits

Sadie, she grabbed this from my art supplies when I got home.
HI! Today I taught at ESO in Belle Haven,Va a Dog Portrait Class. They did beautifully!! Look at their work. Each brought their own photo from home of their dogs or their family's dogs and we took our time and drew and painted them.

Naturally Sadie grabbed something from my black art bag when I got in the door. She's doing better but still has some problems.

Hope you are having a beautiful day. love,Diana

Sadie's Sick

I took her to the Vet today. Our Veterinarian is Dr. Bailey from Greenbush Veterinary Clinic in Greenbush,Va, which is here on the ES but about 25 minutes away. He's a dear man with sweet nurses and Sadie has been going to him since she was little. He examined her and she has colitis.( Stomach trouble) We left the vet with her pulling me out the door. As we got near the cute little dog house decorating the yard I stumbled, she leaped,I dropped the leash, and I fell over the dog house.. I managed to raise my head and warn the man with the next dog coming into the yard. "Here she comes."Sadie ran right to them. The nurses came pouring out to grab her as we were on a busy road. I did get into the car with Sadie and home we came. Thank Goodness. I need to do comics.. Wish  you could have seen it. ha ha.. Only me. She's had her medicine and is resting now. You know I'll be watching over her as I paint. I cleaned today I was so worried, no painting. Maybe now. Talk to you soon, love,Diana

Hot Flowers in Watercolor

New watercolor painting I'm working on now..

Sadie is under my table keeping me company while I paint.

John gave me flowers for our anniversary and ice cream.
Hi Everyone, I've been working on this painting all week. I drew it on a great pour. Then struggled with the flowers composition, adding a few garden flowers to the mix really made it difficult. I did it anyway. Ha. Then colors. I'm in a show called HOT at Stage Door Gallery. I'm painting with HOT colors in mind. I changed the color of the vase to not distract from the pour and colors. I'm really thinking way too much. Just paint it. Anyway. Here is what I've come up with so far. As you can see I'm still working on it, but I'm very pleased with it now. I may add a male hummingbird  sitting on the bottom tulip, just because I love the little rascals and they are everywhere here now, zooming by. Sadie is keeping me company after she chomped up my flower pot outside. Tell me what you are doing today.

 Love to you all ,Diana

My Azalea Class

Here's the class Saturday at NBG, We painted azaleas as you can see!
Hi, Saturday's class was wonderful. I demonstrated and we did quick exercises in washes, poured watercolor, negative painted, drew and painted azaleas, and ended by doing 20 minute landscapes right out our window. We view the little pond that has huge vibrant pink azaleas( the size of my kitchen )with loblolly pines and dogwood surrounding it. The hummingbird garden is right out the window and we saw both the male and female Ruby Throated Hummingbird. We ate our lunch out in the garden and a few of us did the landscapes outside ,as well. A truly lovely day with lovely people.  Everyone did a wonderful job in class.Today I rested and watched a movie. Tell me about your weekend. love,Diana

Ps Sadie played and played ball today. Her last adventure today involved a very smelly roll in the woods, so she's sweet and been washed again. I hope the fur doesn't come off.

Better

I filled up my palette with fresh color just now.

Here's Sadie, sleeping with her foot pressed up on mine when I sit down at the art table.
HI, Thank each of you for your beautiful messages to my last post. Things are going better. If only we were close enough for a cup of coffee and a visit I'd be pouring my heart out to each of you. You are dear friends and so supportive. Thank you. Yes,things are better.

I"ve just filled my palette for class tomorrow. I'm teaching at Norfolk Botanical Garden on Azaleas. They are blooming in all pinks, whites, and reds.. sounds gorgeous. I'm looking forward to seeing it and painting it and helping others paint it.

I took a long walk today in the nursery across from our house. I saw paw prints of deer and raccoon.( The raccoon prints look like little hands,so adorable.  Laura, my daughter did a school report on paw prints when she was 9 or so...amazing what we learn from our kids.) The deer prints are more like 2 elongated V s,delicate and lovely.
Nature is such a gift, isn't it.

Sending you each a hug, love and have a delightful weekend. Tell me about it. Diana
