Painting the Eastern Shore

Here's what I've been working on for the past few days. It's a mini landscape of Willis Wharf,Va.,here on the Eastern Shore. I took the photo in 1996,can you believe that? Wow.. I've loved the composition and have painted it before. I darkened the mud and added a little Daniel Smith Lunar Black to the edges. That color has the granulation in it which makes it look like dirt. ha ha.. I started to leave it with the lighter mud but then pushed the color..

I'm so excited.. Tomorrow is see the puppies day!!! I'm taking my camera.. I'll show you! I get to pick out our puppy..

I've got supper on the stove and more time(John has an appointment) so I'll put out some more paper.. what to paint now! Talk to you tomorrow.!! love,Diana

Beautiful watercolors. The water reflections are fantastic.

  3. I like how you used the lunar black. I've been baffled by it, but why not use it for dirt!!! :-)

Diana, I would be so excited about puppy day that I wouldn't be able to sleep. Can't wait to see who you pick.

    Hugs,

  4. Paint a puppy!! Love the idea of using the more granulate paints for intended effects. I never thought of that!

  5. I remember the first time you painted this. Just gorgeous!
And how exciting about the puppy. My hubby keeps hinting at getting another dog... Ours passed away a year ago last Christmas. But I'm not sure I have the time any more, now I'm used to not walking every day... :0)

  6. Diana - this is gorgeous. Definitely a place I would love to see. Never have used black (always afraid that it would dull things but in your hands it looks wonderful). I am so very happy about your puppies...can't wait to see pictures....they give so much joy and you are going to be so happy when you can bring one home. Take care and enjoy tomorrow!
