Pretty Boy Cardinal-finished!

HI, I just finished "Pretty Boy Cardinal",ok,:) I may change the name but that's what I call him. He comes to the feeder and sits on the wild rose bush in the yard. You know, I love to paint first thing in the morning. I didn't plan to add the holly it just happened. I picked it from the American Holly in our front yard. We have quite a few here in the forest. It seemed to add that little bit of color to that corner. talk to you soon, Diana
Tip: if you need to make sure the colors match, place the leave on your palette as you mix to see if it matches!
Spinal Headache continues -7weeks 3 days. Can you believe it!--That's why I'm not painting as much.. but I will continue painting and yes(I'm miserable but trying) it will go away! thanks for your love.

  1. Diana, I really like how you have painted Pretty Boy! Most attractive, how you have focussed on the head with the more intense hues, and let the rest of the painting flow along lightly.
What are spinal headaches? Can they not be alleviated or cured? That is much too long to suffer - I wish you well, and hope you are pain-free soon!

  2. hi Kathryn, thank you, I'm glad you like him. Spinal headaches happen when a large needle is inserted into the dura matter surrounding your spinal cord. They were giving me a shot to help with back pain and punctured this dura matter so the fluid from my brain leaks out and it takes a long time to heal. it will heal and I'll be fine but now I'm supposed to lay flat and drink lots of caffeine, and water and take pain medicine because it hurts esp. if I stand or sit up too long. I've been grumbling about it too much, I'm sorry. I'll do better. I just want to paint more. but I'm getting some done. anyway. thanks for commenting.love,Diana

  3. I am so sorry to hear you are still suffering with this terrible headache. Well done you for painting such a beautiful subject and with such gorgeous colours too. We don't have the cardinal in Australia but I have always loved the pictures of them and it's lovely now to see a painting. Grumble away Diana - pain is very exhausting I can relate, mine is spine related also but thank goodness we have something we love to escape to.
