Did I Stop in Time?

Well I was so absorbed in painting I didn't hear the men outside from Asplundh cutting down a dead lob lolly pine on the side of the road in our yard. This pine was a favorite roost of many birds so they'll have to find another tree, but that won't be a problem.

Here is my finished painting of the pink tulips. I was starting to add a line here and a line there and I stopped myself. I didn't want to overwork it. I want it to be delicate and hopefully capture the beauty of those flowers. What do you think? Did I stop in time or do I need more darks??

Talk to you soon, Diana

  2. Oh, you stopped just in time, it is lovely and soft and I so love the backgrounds of your work, I am reading a book from the library on wet in wet techniques, so I may try some different backgrounds this month, you have me intrigued by them.

  3. It is absolutely beautiful and so delicate. I love the vase of water too. The tulip at the front is particularly beautiful, I think because it has that rich pink inside. If anything, perhaps you could do the same with the tulip in the middle area which is also at the front of the bunch. But really, it is beautiful just as it it. I LOVE your pallette by the way. I need one of those! Mine are too small!

  4. thank you Marty for stopping by, thank you Maria I'm enjoying your daily paintings! and Sandra I went back in and did slightly darken that middle tulip. then walked away.. haha.. I'm on to a new painting. My palette is John Pike and I love it. I've had it for at least 25 years.Lots of room and it has a cover which is great to tape a piece of paper to and paint on at a show or on location. thank you all, Diana
