Let it Melt! Let it Melt!

HI ! Well I'm tired of the snow as I'm sure most of you are. I've been painting Chickadees in the snow. We've had so many beautiful birds to our feeders. Cupcake -our kitty- has been so excited running and peering out at them. Sadie, our lab, has enjoyed the cold weather too.

I've frozen a few washes outside as we got down to 9 degrees one night. Just put the watercolor wash out as quickly as possible and run back inside. Always weigh them down so they don't blow away. Had that happen. Well John wants an omelette so it is lunchtime. I'll talk to you soon. Stay warm and well.love and hugs to each of you,Diana

And Of Course I Kept Painting!!!

HI, I know,remember I said I was going to stop painting at the first branch...well.. I kept going. I added the other branch and then just had to add the chickadee. I like it, although I think it was best with just the one branch. What do you think?? It's still very cold here and so gray today almost like a snow or storm is coming. I've been baking most of the day for a church service tomorrow. Sadie is playing here with her last squeeky.She adored the chunk of ice from her water pail outside.. She really enjoyed playing with that.. Rudy, the old kitty is enjoying my chair and blanket. HAPPY BLESSED NEW YEAR to you!

I took down the Christmas tree. Put all the ornaments up the attic,the tree deep in the woods where I hope it will give some creatures some warmth this winter. Moved my table back to the window and now put the Santa Hat up. It's always sad to put away the Christmas things. I will leave the nativity set up into February so I can enjoy that more. Chickadee watercolor and Christmas Tree

HI, I've put the little chickadee in my Maple leaf painting today and framed one painting. Here's our Christmas tree. It's short and easy to handle :).(You know I was the one who put it up and the one who will take it down.) The sun is starting to go down so that lovely pink sky is it's background. I usually have my art table under these windows but had to move it to over here. It faces a wall,but it's only for a month.I like it so much better over there..I'm trying not to grumble too much. Just a Little Chickadee and Puppy News.

HI, This afternoon we went up to Onancock for a while. I took the bottom photo there at the wharf. I haven't done much painting today so I started this little chickadee. I've wet part of the top,dropped in thalo blue, and added kosher and ice cream salt . This will make little star shapes of snow. He looks cold and I feel it,too.

Puppy news. It's sad again. The dog,Molly was supposed to be pregnant but she wasn't ... so no puppies(we waited and waited). I was so very disappointed. So I've called someone else and they are trying to get their dog pregnant.. not in heat yet,when they do , they'll save me a yellow one. It's going to be a while. But when the puppies are born I'll get to go visit them until they can leave their mother and they are close enough,that will be great. I'm trying to be positive about it. I wanted you to know.

Silly Titles

Today,I framed the Chickadee with the Star Magnolias. Thank goodness I've got both paintings ready for the opening on Friday. It's the Eastern Shore Art League Spring Art Show at the Red Queen Gallery in Onancock.The Opening is March 16 from 5pm-8pm.

About a month ago we were asked for the titles of our paintings. Naturally, I didn't have a clue, because I hadn't painted them yet! I came up with some names but truly wanted to name them Spring Masterpiece#1 and Spring Masterpiece #2.. but I was good and didn't do it. They are "In the Spring" and "Springtime Blessings".. well I didn't know what I was going to paint either! ha ha..

Branch and Chickadee

HI! Here's what I added today to the Chickadee and Star Magnolia. I've got to keep going, but I don't want to over do the flowers.. I'd like them to be delicate.

Daisy is barking in the kitchen,this very minute. I cooked a chicken for dinner and she knows it. What a dog!!

Painting Star Magnolia

I started the chickadee in class Saturday and the branch. Got the flowers drawn and have painted some today. I'm feeling better all the time. I realized this morning I have to do 2 paintings for a show in 2 weeks!!! oh boy.. new ones about spring.. take care,Diana

Ready for Sunshine

HI! Well I've painted a little and hope I've finished this chickadee painting.I am looking forward to warmer weather. Today we had a perfect day,sunshine and the pansies have started blooming. Sorry I haven't blogged as much. This blasted headache is still with me-- 10weeks now.It will go away.. perhaps that should be my mantra..I feel like painting some bright colors.. It's gotta be simple right now.. Daisy,our Lab, and I sat on the steps for a few minutes and soaked up some sun.. talk to you soon,Diana

Chickadee-dee-dee

Here is a little chickadee painting I have begun. My grandfather,"Jack",loved birds and when my sister and I were little girls he pointed them out to us. The chickadee was one of his favorites,mine too. The chickadee says"Chickadee -dee -dee". talk to you soon, Diana...

The background I like because it looks like snow -so I added more by adding coarse Kosher Salt to the wet Thalo blue background.. to look like snow. just a little snow... :)
