Camellias and Sea Shells

Hi, tomorrow  I am teaching at NBG, Norfolk Botanical Garden. I have been getting ready  all day. We will be painting  Camellias and Sea shells. Two dear friends have given me these flowers. I went over and picked them today. Aren't  they gorgeous! ! Another dear friend  lent me some amazing  shells,  2 I had to paint, you can see why the colors  and texture just drew me in.  I had  a class  this week too at ESO in Belle Haven, Va.,which is a wonderful old renovated school  dedicated to teaching art.

I am tired but ready for class. I slipped and fell yesterday  unpacking  the car. Bruised my thigh, knees, ankle, back and hip... but just my left side.. ibuprofen isn't  helping  much. I will  be  ok.. Sadie is doing better, Dr.Bailey  says we won't  know for sure  if the infection is gone until after the antibotics have all been taken. We have  been going every week to check her. John will watch over her tomorrow.  Talk to you soon, love, Diana

Dog Watercolor Class at ESO

Hi ! I just got home from class at ESO. We had a good time. They both did great with their dog watercolors.  I enjoyed being with them so much.

Dog Portrait Class at ESO

ESO Watercolor Class on Painting Dog Portraits

HI! Today I taught at ESO in Belle Haven,Va a Dog Portrait Class. They did beautifully!! Look at their work. Each brought their own photo from home of their dogs or their family's dogs and we took our time and drew and painted them.

Naturally Sadie grabbed something from my black art bag when I got in the door. She's doing better but still has some problems.

Flowers in Watercolor

HI, I taught at ESO in Belle Haven,Va.on the Eastern Shore yesterday. We painted watercolors of the beach. I was tired when I got home and so was Sadie.. you can see the art bag behind her. She tried to bury a bone in it last night. I've added some verbina to the little painting. It's better. Very proper.. I do like looser but this is what came out of me yesterday. Daffodils and Unusual Texturing on Watercolors

HI, after church this morning I went over to Mama and Daddy's for coffee,came home made lunch and cleaned up my art table and now took a short walk. Yesterday I realized I hadn't painted all day .I had helped John with yard work. So I did a wash of lots of colors on a sheet of paper and put 3 potato mashers directly down on the paper as it dried. It formed some interesting patterns. I 'll try and take a photo of it and show you tomorrow. It'll be fun to figure out what to paint on that! What is the silliest thing you have used on your watercolor painting?? Tell me!! ha ha.. I suppose vodka was my silliest..drizzle it on and it acts like alcohol.. leaving a round spot.. try it..

on Thursday of this week on painting daffodils in watercolor. I'll take a large bouquet of Mama's flowers from her yard. Living in the shade of the pine trees I only get a few and they aren't blooming yet.:)

Pretty Photo of Eastern Shore

HI, This is in my parents backyard. Beautiful, isn't it? They didn't have this land when we were little girls, my sister and I. We grew up in the little town of Exmore,Va. This is  your more typical  Eastern Shore scene and lovely.

Well today I've spent my time watching a silly movie,sipping Pepsi and eating saltine crackers when I could eat. I had a stomach virus. My class at ESO was cancelled. We didn't have enough students. So actually it was good with me feeling sick,that we didn't have it. I would not have wanted to give anyone anything.  I'm feeling better. I'll just rest for the remainder of the day and be fine by tomorrow.. I like happy movies. Have you seen "Bridesmaids", funny and puppies in it too.  :) take care, talk to you tomorrow. love,Diana

Veggie Class

hi, I took this basket of veggies for us to paint at my class today. We enjoyed the colors. Did the split color wheel and 6 washes as well as everyone painted this. We're eating the tomatoes tonight in Bacon,Egg, Avocado and Tomato salad. Talk to you Soon, Diana

New Hummingbird Watercolor

Hi! This Thursday, I taught a Hummingbird Watercolor Class at ESO Art Center in Belle Haven,Va. It was a small class but we had a good time.

Pictured above is a hummingbird painting I did this week. The Ruby Throated Male Hummer in my painting has iridescent paint on him as well as gold metallic watercolor paint.The background is a pour with some of the gold .  Today was one of those days I didn't get to paint as much as I had hoped. Our kitchen stove broke down so we had to get a new one today , and my new eyeglasses came in and I went to get them. The frames are red.. a big change but I'm tickled with them especially because I can see so much better!!! I had not realized I needed new glasses.

Demonstration from ESO Butterfly Class

HI! Here are my 2 demonstrations from my Butterfly Class yesterday at ESO in Belle Haven,Va. The top one is the Spicebush Swallowtail and the bottom is my favorite the Tiger Swallowtail. We had 4 students and they did a beautiful job.. each painted a Tiger Swallowtail ( I hope they frame them) It was a fun day.I hope everyone has a great weekend.
