Lost in a Daffodil

Hi !! I couldn't help myself. This has been sitting on my art table. So I just stopped everything except of course the sip of coffee, and drew it and painted it. It's Fabriano  Hot Press 140 lbs. I love leaving the watermark of the paper on the painting. I truly seem to lose myself in the drawing and the painting, just experiencing the beauty of the gorgeous daffodil.. do I really have to go do the dishes now? love to each of you,Diana  I'm going , I'm going...

Puppy Photo and Daffodil Watercolor Beginning

HI, Today I went up to the Red Queen Gallery in Onancock,Va. and took in some of my new paintings. I enjoyed seeing Mary Ann and Susan.  Here is a painting I have just started. I love the blue ball jars-- well any Ball Jar really, but I do especially love the blue with the yellow. I have a sunflower so far in the bouquet with the daffodils, I'll put another on the other side probably. You know I had to include another baby photo of the new puppy. Only 2 more weeks!!! before she comes home! :)  love,Diana

Daffodils and Mini Landscape of Onancock

Well. I got the camera to work.  I just took a bike ride in the sunshine. I thought it was supposed to be warm and it's 39 degrees out there.. cool. ha.. Perhaps it helped me pedal faster.  :)

 Here is the little daffodil I painted from flowers from Mama and Daddy's yard. I started the painting all wrong but needed to paint so I just drew a daffodil and painted  it then added more.. I like the way it did come out.  The next photo is the beginnings of a mini Eastern Shore Landscape watercolor.. It's Onancock. I took this reference photo last year. I'll go back to that after I finish saying Hi!

 The puppies will go for their first vet check this week. They'll be 3 weeks old. Time is flying by!! My son is coming home this weekend. Daddy is doing ok. My sister is coming tomorrow to see him and us. Thank you all for your concern for Daddy and your love and support . It means so very much.

Daffodils and Unusual Texturing on Watercolors

HI, after church this morning I went over to Mama and Daddy's for coffee,came home made lunch and cleaned up my art table and now took a short walk. Yesterday I realized I hadn't painted all day .I had helped John with yard work. So I did a wash of lots of colors on a sheet of paper and put 3 potato mashers directly down on the paper as it dried. It formed some interesting patterns. I 'll try and take a photo of it and show you tomorrow. It'll be fun to figure out what to paint on that! What is the silliest thing you have used on your watercolor painting?? Tell me!! ha ha.. I suppose vodka was my silliest..drizzle it on and it acts like alcohol.. leaving a round spot.. try it..

on Thursday of this week on painting daffodils in watercolor. I'll take a large bouquet of Mama's flowers from her yard. Living in the shade of the pine trees I only get a few and they aren't blooming yet.:)

Painting with Plumber.

HI! I put the finishing touches on this watercolor yesterday. It was one of those hectic days. We had a plumber here and he was going and coming and in and out right in front of my art table. So I ended up putting more green leaves than I intended. But I like it and I'm finished, I hope. Ha ha.(I'll sign it in the morning.) Just got to finish the one with the magnolia,both paintings are due next Thursday. I do have to frame them but I'll wait and grumble about that later. You know how I love to frame! Finger Painting in Watercolor-tell me what you think!

Hi,I've worked on my daffodils a little and then experimented with finger painting. It was fun. Tell me what you think. I just put my fingers in warm water then touched the paint and placed them on the hot press closed my eyes and tried to feel the paper and paint and just ta da.. this one I like, what do you think.. now tell the truth please... I would like to frame it and call it dance.. because it looks like three dancers to me.. try this.. and tell me how it comes out. have a great weekend. I've still got this blasted headache -- 13 weeks on Monday. I can't stand it much longer.. take care,Diana ps the candy kept me going today. What Beauty We See!

HI, Look what I found,aren't they gorgeous!They were from Gran's yard. I asked my husband to look the other day and he said no I didn't see any flowers over there. It reminded me of the time I asked my son about the flowers at a wedding he was participating in. He said,"No Ma I didn't see any flowers.. there". I later asked a lady at church who had gone. She said," Oh Diana, You should have seen them. They had 2 fields planted of sunflowers on each side of the wedding.Flowers everywhere.It was glorious."But my boy didn't see them then, and neither did my husband the other day. ha ha.. It's what's important to each of us! ha, ha.

So I decided to put them in a mason jar and paint them. I've started anyway.They smell so good.-- I usually rearrange the flowers as I go to fit the composition. Do you do that or do you have it ready before hand? Talk to you soon.Diana

Striped Daffodil Painting

Hi, well Daisy is waiting for her dinner. We just took a lovely(short-she can't go too far) walk in the nursery. They have the most amazing camellias. My favorite is Pink Icicle.. big,floppy and pink.Gorgeous.We have permission, Daisy and Dusty were the "BUNNY PATROL" to help chase sweet little bunnies, and mice ,too, ok, and 3 foxes, away.(The dogs could really run when in the mood and of course I was attached to them with leashes -so I was attempting to keep up-- a hilarious sight!) It feels like Dusty is walking beside us when we go walking.

Today I've been working on this little almost abstract daffodil watercolor. I started with one of my pours and sketched the daffodils, then blocked in some colors to create negative space and threw in some stripes for the fun of it. It's definitely different!! ha ha.. I like it. Is it too silly??

Spring??

Hi! This is an older daffodil painting of mine. I have sold it but I've been working on more landscapes this week and done some sketching.Also a little female hummingbird painting,I haven't seen one yet and had thought to put up my feeders just in case the scout came along. I can't believe Evelyn at the Post Office told me we are expecting SNOW this weekend.. but we have daffodils and budding pear trees!! Amazing isn't it! take care and have a great weekend.. Diana

Painting Daffodils

This morning I've been working on my new little daffodil painting. I've added some shadows and been working on the petals. Now I decided to put a dark green background behind the daffodils, I debated a thalo blue for fun but decided on the dark green. I use only one green(viridian) and mix it to make whatever green I like. For this I am using my viridian green and sepia and a touch of ultramarine blue. This makes a rich dark green... although I see I will have to glaze it again to get it darker. I want contrast, haha,afterward I will go in and darken some of the shadows on the flowers. Daffodils !

HI, Here is my Daffodils and Tiger Swallowtail, I just finished it minutes ago. I'm going to frame it for the Chincoteague Island Easter Decoy and Art Festival this weekend. These Daffodils were in my yard,,, this always amazes me to see such beauty right here!They smell divine too.. starting to wilt but still smell beautiful!
