Watercolors of Rodanthe

Here are some. I counted and I have 45. Some are not keepers,some are fine. I just tried to enjoy the moment and keep moving my brush. Some are the sound which was quieter and paler it seemed except when the wind picked up. I had one day my feet were swollen from sunburn so I stayed on the porch at the house and painted at the picnic table. It was quiet with such soft colors, the girls and John brought me wildflowers and I painted them too. We had beautiful peaches. It was a nice time. What are you painting? Painting on the Beach during Vacation

HI, I'm back. The family went to the beach in Rodanthe,North Carolina. Remember the movie "Nights in Rodanthe" with Richard Geer, well the famous house from the movie was right behind us as we sat on the beach. I painted on the beach as much as I could. It was so beautiful. 
We:  Gathered sea shells,
        Walked on the beach,
        ate ice cream and Brooke's brownies
        read as many novels as we could
        played cards and corn hole
        relaxed in the sun
of course we all or most of us got some virus.. a stomach one. but for most of us it was over in 24 hours..and we were back at the beach..

Painting at the Beach!

HI, Guess where we went! We went on a family vacation to Rodanthe,NC. It was gorgeous as you can see.

Eleven adults and 5 teenagers and kids too. We enjoyed the beach each day,sitting, soaking up sun, warmth,salt water with waves big enough for kite surfing. Days of relaxing, playing corn hole, playing cards,eating seafood and savoring ice cold drinks on the sand. I painted each day on the beach! We waded in the sound which was ankle deep with clear warm water.

So grab your paint brush and head out,you will love it. I found I prefer hot press for beach scenes on location. I used mostly one brush per painting as I was doing this quickly and I did enjoy trying out my new rounds. Colors of the beach were thalo blue, ultramarine blue, yellow ochre, a touch of sepia.. the white of the paper for the spray and waves. I'll show you more beach paintings and photos soon.
