Copper Creations Christmas Open House This Saturday!! Dec. 13.

Copper Creations in Melfa,Va. is having their Christmas Open House here are some of my new originals for the show!! .

HI Everyone, I'm still working on the little rose painting. I hope to have it finished by Saturday. That is when Copper Creations Christmas Open House is. I've got baking to do for it. I always make a Fresh Apple Cake, some cookies, and some cornbread. Donna Drew has 2 kinds of soup, and every other artist brings food too, so come and munch and buy some art if you are nearby. Just to see you will be a treat. 10am-4pm Dec. 13.

My dear Sadie, our Lab is napping finally today. Its been rainy and cold outside so I played ball for awhile but not long enough. She has been trying to get my attention all morning. So far she's eaten a Halloween sock, a small bottle of powdered iridescent paint, and 2 plackers, the tooth pick/cleaners. I've pried them out of her mouth and she didn't swallow much. Thank goodness. I want to work on my rose painting.

Our Christmas tree is up and fat and short. I love it. But I don't know how much else I'll decorate, I have 2 more shows and am trying to paint as much as I can. Pictured above is the 5 new watercolors I have for this show, but I have to frame them. Anyway it's a blessing to have so many things coming up.  Hope to talk to you soon, love to each of you,Diana

Next show is Eastville Inn , Artwork there on Dec.14, Opening Dec. 20, 6-8pm, One Woman Show. Diana Davis.  I'll be painting a demo there too!!

Good Show and Sadie and the Fur Coat

Here's a poinsettia watercolor I have done. Yesterday's art show was nice. It was at Copper Creations Studio in Melfa,Va. on the Eastern Shore. I sold a few originals and we had lots of people there until about 1:30 from then until 4 it was mostly just us artists but the morning crowd made all our day so we enjoyed visiting with each other and  snacking on all the goodies. I was wiped out when I got home. Donna and Don are so sweet to invite us all there. So that is my last art show for this year, wow, it's hard to believe Christmas will be here soon. I"ve still got a ton to do, shopping, cooking.. cleaning. I'll be talking to you soon, the first thing  I want to do is fix a cup of coffee and paint a little! love to you,Diana

ps. Did I tell you --Monelle came over last week and she had on a lovely full length faux fur coat with a lovely satin lining.. I draped it on the chair in the living room. I didn't hear anything in the living room as we were in the kitchen so I tiptoed in there. Sadie was laying on the satiny side of Monelles' Fur Coat under neath the Christmas tree getting ready to chew on it. Oh My Gosh. I rescued it in the nick of time!! ha ha.. Sadie is a mess!

Too Much To Do,Just Let Me Paint

Checkerboard Emu, 8x10 at Red Queen Gallery in Onancock now.

ESAL Christmas Party, Gertraud, Ivana and Evangelina

Debra and Monelle and more ESAL
HI, Yesterday I went to the Eastern Shore Yacht and Country Club in Melfa,Va. for lunch.. the location of the ESAL Christmas Party. We brought gifts for a Chinese Exchange after lunch. I took a potted plant I just wrapped with whatever tissue paper I had and reynolds wrap and a silly bow. It was the most popular present there.. it got so many laughs.. I had nestled into the plant 2 beers ( that was the desirable part).. It was a fun time and I enjoyed being with everyone there.  The present I brought home was a large bird --decoration about the size of a basketball. Sadie, our puppy,
thought it was delightful, she leaped around it and barked, until I had to hide it..Here she is with a sock, she's hiding she thinks.

I finished my silly emu watercolor, putting checkerboard in the background and a splatter of red . After the party I drove up to the Red Queen Gallery and left 6 new watercolors for the Second Friday opening this Friday. The Emu is one of the paintings there now.

Saturday is the Christmas Open House at Copper Creations Studio in Melfa which will be the last Art Show of the year for me.

Time is flying by and soon with be Christmas. I've got so much to do for it and really would just like to paint and sip coffee with Sadie by my side and the lights of the Christmas Tree on in the background. ah ..well.. maybe later today.

love to each of you! Diana

Chris Moose in Watercolor,My Favorite Ornament

I had to sketch this, then had to paint it. I love this little guy.(I used Da Vinci Iridescent Watercolor Paints to highlight his shine!) I hang him in my kitchen at Christmas.(Did you notice-- he's missing an ear..a new injury.. but I still love him.) So, I'm going to frame it for the Copper Creations Open House. I've got to check my sketch on the house portrait and this afternoon plan on putting in the sky in the background. First it's so lovely outside, a short walk. It's cold but sunny. Here are the poinsettias I took to class and painted the little poinsettia painting from. Talk to  you soon, Tell me what you are working on. love,Diana

Sugar Cookies and Copper Art

www.coppercreations.biz
This is a work of copper art. It's a bird feeder made by Copper Creations in Melfa,Va..(their website is in the left hand corner.) I have 3 of them. I bought one, Mama bought one for me(not knowing I had bought one) and Daddy bought another one for me. No he didn't know either.  :) I love them and I"m sure you know what is in them.. Burnt sugar cookies! I made a double batch and 2 trays came out perfectly and one burnt on the bottom. So the birds get the burnt ones I haven't eaten and the good ones I'll take to class on Saturday. They are delightful.

I have a recipe for Egg Yolk Paint for your sugar cookies. Take an egg and separate the white from the yolk. Put the yolk in 2 bowls and add a drop or two of food coloring. Use a children's old brush and paint polka dots, names, scarfs for the snowmen cookies with your yolk paint. It is so fun, especially if you have a child to help. You must put the Paint on before you bake them! Then Bake and eat and enjoy! I just wanted to clarify that! Thanks!

Talk to you soon. There might be another top of cookie waiting for me :), Love,Diana

Christmas Past Sketch

HI, yesterdays show at Copper Creations' was wonderful. We had lots of people stop in and good food, amazing art.Lots of Fun and good sales!

Too tired to paint today, so here is a sketch from Christmas Past from my sketchbook, this is of our Christmas tree that year, a white pine. It also shows some of the cards we received. It was my grandmothers practice to hang her cards over the curtains to display them so I do this too. One of these as you can see is from Guy Wilkins,a dear artist friend.

I hope even if you aren't an artist you consider getting a sketchbook and sketching your Christmas memories. Remembering is much easier after you literally draw it. Also here is a photo of my art table now with reflections of this years tree in the mirror(the Christmas Moose is a gift to be)..So I'm going to rest and talk to you soon, Diana
