Here is my CLASS at Norfolk Botanical Garden this past Saturday. We painted pansies and dahlias and they turned out beautiful paintings. We did the dahlia by drawing a mandala first. Using the center as the center of the flower and adding layers of petals which fell into place with the guide of the mandala. After CLASS WE enjoyed the beauty of handmade kimono, made from pieces of rice paper in every color. Glorious. This is for Lantern Asia,an amazing light and Art display.
This week I am getting ready for the Heritage Festival 10am to 3pm at Eastern Shore Community College this Saturday. 40 local artists, antique tractors, By the Bay Alpacas, so many things to buy or enjoy. Take care! Love to EACH of you,Diana

I am writing this on the tablet. Funny I never seem to get the photos sized right or something, ah well. We have been working on the yard.me as much as I can. I planted 18 Loblolly pines across the front of the empty cut land . Wat and Chris worked 2 days to get logs out of the side yard and clean up the yard and it looks so much better we helped too,so I have been sore,ha ha. I haven't painted much this week. I did sketch a pig today. I will start her tomorrow, this is Roxanne she was behind Corner Bakery the day I painted in the window at Red Queen Gallery. There was a special parade of animals in town. Goats, black lab,and Roxanne was in the parking lot. You know how I love animals. I was in heaven, so here is her photo with me. Hope you had a nice weekend. I heard a Great Horned Owl this morning. Love to you,Diana Monday, September 15, 2014

Snow Day--Yep, We are Snowed in!
| Sadie biting her frozen pool. |
Snow Day. WOW.. we got probably 4 inches and today it's been cold near 20 degrees. On the ES we don't get much snow and if we do it's gone by the next day. However this is supposed to stay around for a few days. Sadie, the puppy, was so excited she galloped and ran and just had the best time.(Of course we had 5 gloves and she ate one. None match.. this is creative Right??!! ha ha please don't ask about the sock matching.)Poor Rudy, our kitty went out once and I told John that's it.. she stays in
Here is my art table this morning. I've painted watercolors of snow all day, played with the blues, some negative painting... and had a good time.
The last photo is of our front yard. Hope you all are staying warm and dry and have your electricity.
love to each of you. Are you in the snow too?? Diana
My Class at ESO in Belle Haven has been postponed due to the Snow. Check the listing on the right for classes..it will be next Thursday. Thanks so much!!

Just a Little Chickadee and Puppy News.
HI, This afternoon we went up to Onancock for a while. I took the bottom photo there at the wharf. I haven't done much painting today so I started this little chickadee. I've wet part of the top, dropped in thalo blue, and added kosher and ice cream salt . This will make little star shapes of snow. He looks cold and I feel it,too.
Puppy news. It's sad again. The dog,Molly was supposed to be pregnant but she wasn't ... so no puppies(we waited and waited). I was so very disappointed. So I've called someone else and they are trying to get their dog pregnant.. not in heat yet, when they do , they'll save me a yellow one. It's going to be a while. But when the puppies are born I'll get to go visit them until they can leave their mother and they are close enough, that will be great. I'm trying to be positive about it. I wanted you to know.
So tell me what you are painting. talk tomorrow.Diana

Pretty Photo of Eastern Shore
HI, This is in my parents backyard. Beautiful, isn't it? They didn't have this land when we were little girls, my sister and I. We grew up in the little town of Exmore,Va. This is your more typical Eastern Shore scene and lovely.
Well today I've spent my time watching a silly movie, sipping Pepsi and eating saltine crackers when I could eat. I had a stomach virus. My class at ESO was cancelled. We didn't have enough students. So actually it was good with me feeling sick, that we didn't have it. I would not have wanted to give anyone anything. I'm feeling better. I'll just rest for the remainder of the day and be fine by tomorrow.. I like happy movies. Have you seen "Bridesmaids", funny and puppies in it too. :) take care, talk to you tomorrow. love,Diana

Zooming to Gallery and Appleseed Porch and Garden Shop
HI! I ran my paintings and Monelle's paintings down to The Stage Door Gallery in Cape Charles(the first photo) I made it just in the nick of time. So tomorrow I need to make finger food for the reception.. and go.
On the way home I stopped at one of my favorite places Appleseed Porch and Garden Shop on the highway in Eastville,Va. They are a garden shop and just delightful. Today of course they had tons of pumpkins and pansies. I bought 3 tiny ghost pumpkins(white ones) and a small container of Johnny Jump ups in orange and purple. I will have to paint them. I have painted so many of their beautiful flowers and things. It just makes me smile to visit.
take care and talk to you soon, Diana

Workshops at Bay View B&B
HI Everyone, I am teaching 2 watercolor workshops this year at the lovely B&B- Bay View Waterfront in Belle Haven,Va.owners and hosts are Mary Will and Wayne Browning.Go to www.bayviewwaterfrontbedandbreakfast.com and click on special packages. This is the ArtisInn Package. The first workshop is April 9th and 10th (Friday and Saturday) "Flowers and Birds of Va's Eastern Shore". This is just in time to see some of our gardens and spring flowers. Demonstrations, and personal guidance in your artwork with focus on developing your own style and enjoying watercolor painting. The second workshop will be October 29 and 30.(Friday and Saturday)"Landscapes on Eastern Shore" this will include demos and instructions on sky and water. Both Workshops will be from 10am-3pm and this will include a wonderful lunch and wine and cheese afterwards while we critique our work. I hope you can join us for one or both, we will enjoy and experience the beauty here on the shore and the wonders of watercolor.
The dogs and I just enjoyed our walk in the sunshine. The clouds are magnificent. I have a horrible cold... but my athletic husband said go out you need sunshine... and he was right... it helped to breath the fresh air, see the dandelions and wild spring flowers, just bask in the warm sun. Daisy's purpose of walking is to eat anything and almost everything that has a delightful rotten smell, she snorts like the Tasmanian devil the entire time we stroll. Dusty on the other hand goes to experience her joy, at a moments notice she throws her body on the grass and flips over so belly and all 4 legs are dancing in the air. Her moment of joy... she can have up to 25 in a single walk. Amazing! Haha..Enjoy your day, Diana oh the photo is an Eastern Shore sunset!
