NBG Watercolor CLASS, Heritage Festival this Saturday

Add caption

Here is my CLASS at Norfolk Botanical Garden this past Saturday.  We painted pansies and dahlias and they turned out beautiful  paintings. We did the dahlia by drawing a mandala first. Using the center as the center of the flower and adding layers of petals which fell into place with the guide of the mandala.  After CLASS WE enjoyed  the beauty of handmade kimono, made from pieces of rice paper in every color.  Glorious. This is for Lantern Asia,an amazing  light and Art display.

This week I am getting ready for the Heritage Festival 10am to 3pm at Eastern Shore Community College this Saturday.  40 local artists, antique tractors,  By the Bay Alpacas,  so many things to buy or enjoy. Take care! Love to EACH of you,Diana

Dryers Broke too! But I'm painting!

HI, I'm still trying to  fix the photo problem. When my son comes home I hope he can fix it, if I haven't figured it out by then.  I'm not a computer expert by a long shot.

This week Cupcake Mayhem, our new kitty, had her hysterectomy surgery at Dr. Bailey's. She did fine and is now sleeping on the bed resting. She's doing fine.

Sadie ,our lab,and I had a wonderful play date with Beth and her puppy Charlie. I wish you could have seen them running in the water --Occohonack Creek--toward a flock of Canadian Geese!! The geese were taking off and the dogs splashing.  It was so gorgeous. I said it looked like an L.L. Bean commercial.  Two Labrador Retrievers!

I've been painting some small landscapes of the Eastern Shore. Today the painting is of 3 old boats floating in the creek. I need to add more color to it and tighten up my lines of the boats.  This Saturday is the Eastern Shore Community College Heritage Festival. I'll be there showing my art. It's a fun day, I hope By the Bay Alpacas are there, I love to go visit with them. Copper Creations will be there and so will Gertraude Fendler with her Sea Glass Jewelry and Mama Girl with her Folk Art so it will definitely be a day with good friends.

Take care and stay warm. There are signs of spring here. Crocus and my Hellebore are in bloom!!! I need color  , the greys have been a downer. Our clothes dryer died last night, so I have clothes hanging everywhere in the house to dry. Wonder if company is coming to visit?

 love to each of you,Diana

Eastern Shore Heritage Festival

Eastern Shore Heritage Festival is this upcoming Saturday, Feb.22 from10am-3pm. I'll be there with my original watercolors and there will be other local artists, displays about the Eastern Shore of Va.,and good food! If you are nearby please stop in. Oh -- it's being held as usual at the Eastern Shore Community College in Melfa,Va. and I'll be in the Atrium in the building to the Left.

I'm looking forward to it. I send out an email before each of the shows I'm in. Here are my latest work which I lay on my dining room table and take a photo of teetering on a dining room chair.. to get an above shot.( Yes Sadie's usually standing by the chair!) Then I send this photo off to my email list of customers, friends, and students..It helps me show them my newest work as well as advertises. It's a good idea to help with your shows. Keep the email list and send out a photo of your latest work to your customers. ( I'm more artist than merchandiser but we must keep our work out there.--I hope this helps you in some way.)

I've got frames coming in tomorrow. Today I'll be painting. Not sure what yet but I'll be painting.
Hope you all are warm and have a lovely day and sending you my love,Diana

For Heritage Festival Tomorrow!

HI! Yesterday I got 5 paintings framed. This morning I did 2 and I've been working on this chicken ever since.  I'm trying to get ready for the The Heritage Festival at The Eastern Shore Community College in Melfa,Va. on the Eastern Shore.  I'm getting there slowly. Last night I realized I didn't have a chicken,a chicken watercolor. So I sketched this one in my sketchbook. It was a fun sketch not a every detail kind of thing.. so I've almost got him painted. I'm waiting for the first glaze of the background to dry then I'll go back and hopefully only put one more glaze on it.

Then frame that one and 3 more, I grumble the whole time I do it. If I were a millionaire I'd have all mine framed by a personal framer. Wouldn't that be fun!!:)

The show info is up in the right hand corner of my blog and the hours are from 10am-3pm Feb.23 which is tomorrow. John said it's going to rain.. he's so comforting.. the rascal.  It might not.. ok it's supposed to heavily rain but I hope we will have a nice crowd anyway.  Oh dear.. what are you going to do.. right..

While the chicken (yes -- the painting) was drying I managed to load the racks in the car.  My back is not good and I have sciatica but I thought it would help to have that part done.  John won't put the paintings in until just before we leave. So wish me luck and yes  ESAL has an opening at Red Queen at 5pm. So I may be laying under a tree by Sunday!  :) I'm kidding.. probably.

OOOH puppy news..  check out Debbie's new baby on the blog list..he's adorable Her blog is View From Harmony Hills.

and my puppy news. Sarah, the mama dog is nesting, she was tearing up newspapers yesterday and Kendra said she is huge! I think it will be soon. I'll let you know. love,Diana
