Pistachio Shells Create Texture on Watercolor
hi, We've had the plumber here today. He had to cut off the water to fix a faucet outside. This is the one Sadie has been digging under.. nothing like a muddy dog in the winter time.
I got my paintings up to the show this morning and finished a little landscape this afternoon. Now the water is back on so I'll be catching up with dishes and get supper. So glad I've got some leftovers, aren't they wonderful.
John brought home some pistachios last night and I was charmed by the shells.. and naturally thought of watercolor. ha ha.. So I laid a wet wash down on my watercolor paper, applied some thalo, opera and cadmium yellow dark and placed the shells on the wet wash. You can see what happened. It's lovely, I used them right side up and upside down and both worked, after the wash was dry I gently removed them.. I love it. I want to do a large painting with some on it so I'm saving the shells.Silly, but so much fun!!
I saw 2 amazing bald eagles flying over a cemetery in Onancock this morning. They were gorgeous. I'm so tired. No more painting. I'm done.Wiped out..
Hope you have a great weekend.. love to each of you! Wish me luck at the shows. love,Diana

Rhododendron Watercolor Changes
Hi,here's the rhododendron painting. It took a change. I added another blossom in the middle- on the side and did not like it so I put a large wash of dark black there and love it. The 3rd blossom took away the focus on the blossom at the bottom. It was too confusing. So Zap I put in the darkness. I was going to add a hummingbird but decided against it. It has enough going on. I do have to add another glaze/wash over the dark wash and maybe hit the rhododendrons with a little pink on the edges.
The piggy I framed and delivered and she loved it. I'm glad.
Of course here's Sadie, John brought her a chicken leg yummy last night. She adored it even hiding it and later taking it to bed (crate) with her at night.
Hope everyone has a great weekend. I've started a small cow painting. Next Saturday is Art on The Farm at the Barrier Island Center, a lovely art show, flower booths and local wine. Yes we have 3 great wineries here on the shore... so I need to paint ,Talk to you soon, love to you,Diana .

Zooming to Gallery and Appleseed Porch and Garden Shop
HI! I ran my paintings and Monelle's paintings down to The Stage Door Gallery in Cape Charles(the first photo) I made it just in the nick of time. So tomorrow I need to make finger food for the reception.. and go.
On the way home I stopped at one of my favorite places Appleseed Porch and Garden Shop on the highway in Eastville,Va. They are a garden shop and just delightful. Today of course they had tons of pumpkins and pansies. I bought 3 tiny ghost pumpkins(white ones) and a small container of Johnny Jump ups in orange and purple. I will have to paint them. I have painted so many of their beautiful flowers and things. It just makes me smile to visit.
take care and talk to you soon, Diana
