Daylily & Hummer
HI, I'm getting ready for the Decoy Show, I just finished this morning my "Daylily and Hummer" painting. It's more traditional watercolor style -- Sometimes the subject seems to call for a particular style. I love the dark viridian green mix for the background, that makes the daylily and hummer colors contrast or pop. We are patiently waiting for spring here... the crocus have started to bloom and Daisy and Rudy are surprizingly next to each other in a moment of quiet... Not a norm here as Daisy usually steals Rudy's food.. Well I'd best get back to painting.. soon we have to hang our Hummingbird feeders out!

The first workshop is April 9th and 10th (Friday and Saturday) "Flowers and Birds of Va's Eastern Shore". This is just in time to see some of our gardens and spring flowers. Demonstrations, and personal guidance in your artwork with focus on developing your own style and enjoying watercolor painting. The second workshop will be October 29 and 30.(Friday and Saturday)"Landscapes on Eastern Shore" this will include demos and instructions on sky and water. Both Workshops will be from 10am-3pm and this will include a wonderful lunch and wine and cheese afterwards while we critique our work. I hope you can join us for one or both, we will enjoy and experience the beauty here on the shore and the wonders of watercolor.
The dogs and I just enjoyed our walk in the sunshine. The clouds are magnificent. I have a horrible cold... but my athletic husband said go out you need sunshine... and he was right... it helped to breath the fresh air, see the dandelions and wild spring flowers, just bask in the warm sun. Daisy's purpose of walking is to eat anything and almost everything that has a delightful rotten smell, she snorts like the Tasmanian devil the entire time we stroll. Dusty on the other hand goes to experience her joy, at a moments notice she throws her body on the grass and flips over so belly and all 4 legs are dancing in the air. Her moment of joy... she can have up to 25 in a single walk. Amazing! Haha..Enjoy your day, Diana oh the photo is an Eastern Shore sunset!

Paint, Darling,Paint!
This is a very quick study in watercolor. It was fun. Just 20 min. Set your timer, begin with a clean piece of paper and something to paint, I used only one brush to further test myself. The purpose is to eliminate those things you see that you don't need to focus on and to focus on the important elements. I enjoyed it and will be doing some more. This one was a delight and quiet time/stress release -- right now a loved one is in the hospital.. she is ok,but my heart is there with her. It's so important to realize that art is about life, your life and even in harder times you paint. You must paint!Your emotions shows in your work and that is how it should be.Art can and should be part of you in the ups and downs..To pick up my brush and feel the release.. what a blessing!talk to you soon, Diana

Pictured is my Barn Owl, this is one of my watercolors in the show. We have been so fortunate to have owls visit our home here. The other night I heard a screech owl in the forest.A strange but wonderful sound, spring is around the corner... but we are supposed to get snow tonight... oh boy..I'm ready for tulips.
