Art on the Farm,Art Show

Hi, The show,Art on the Farm, was lovely. We had some problems with wind.(an outdoor show) Gusts up to 30 mph,but everything held on. I used 2 hooks per painting and hung the large ones on the bottoms of the rack, did some bungie cording and John attached two 25lb dumb bells to the bottoms of the racks too. I sold 5 little ones,2 chickens,a cow,a hummingbird and a mini landscape. Here are two paintings I finished the night before the show. Yes, I did.--I don't know why I do these things but I do... then framed about 5 paintings. I was silly to try to do the checkerboard painting-- it takes so much time.. Sadie, our puppy, was impatient -- she wanted more attention and kept pulling on my socks as I painted. :) I got it done.  John helped me set up and then went home to take care of Sadie and do his things. Saw so many friends, had Hog Island Coffee and Beth treated me to Chincoteague Mud Ice cream... looked like mud but tasted like heaven, chocolate fudge! Here's our Sadie still trying to get in the little chair. Hope you are having a great weekend. Happy Memorial Day! and Happy Weekend ! love to you,Diana

Coming up...Art and Music on the Farm

HI, my class on Saturday was nice. We drew and painted hummingbirds and the gardens brought us a large bucket of gorgeous flowers fresh cut from there. I saw deep purple iris and thought for sure we would all be painting those but instead they each chose Red Hot Pokers to put with their hummers. We had a great time and they turned out some beautiful work!

Here are a few of my new pieces which I'll frame this week for Art and Music on the Farm at the Barrier Island Center in Machipongo,Va. This show is from 10am-4pm. They will have wonderful food, soda, local wine and beer, music, and beautiful local art.,It's on Saturday May 26th. Entry fee $10 in advance or $12 at the gate. Look up to the right for my show list for location and phone# to call for entry fee. Hope you can come! You can go to Barrier Island Center website for more info click here.

I've been painting on the porch, I wanted to do a little hummingbird with some flowers in my garden. Where I sit I can see the daisies I've planted by Daisy's grave. I know I will miss her forever. The first thing Sharon said on Saturday was I'm so sorry about Daisy. She was so sweet to say that! I'll go back to painting. Talk to you soon, Diana

Try this brush!

HI, I tried Nancy's brush this week. It is an Isabey Squirrel Quill #8 and it was so much fun. If you can try one, do a quick sketch, this is of a wine bottle of Holly Grove Vineyards , Franktown,Va. I quickly sketched it and then slathered on the paint. and I love it. I'd love to do a few bottles like this, I have a brush the same size just not an expensive one and it works. I don't get the same glide across the paper or the smoothness as I do with this brush but same effect. Now my favorite brush of all times is my 1/2 inch flat sable . Just by the way I hold the brush it can do so many things! There is Daisy, I went to the plant swap at The Bear and The Cub Coffee Shoppe in Pungoteague,Va. Saturday morning. It was so much fun. These are my new plants before I got them in the ground. They have great coffee, such a warm and inviting place to browse and see the yarn,art,... I had the Oyster Roast Bold coffee, which is rich and delightful. Well I'm rambling, I better get painting, the Art in the Farm - art show on May 29th--at the Barrier Island Center is coming up in a couple of weekends...talk soon,Diana
