More Family and Turkey, It was good!

Sadie as a baby.. adorable!

Here I am..
Well the day after Thanksgiving was full of my sister's family, Terry, Grover(her husband) and Emma( their daughter. Son Jonathan couldn't come as he is with his fiance.. wow.. We all gathered at Mama and Daddy's for lunch of Turkey,salad... and lots of pie. It was a nice day. I'm zonked. Sadie, the dear had me leaping logs and chasing her down in the woods while the men were in the house.  Ok I didn't leap. I can't do much leaping anymore but I did get to see new parts of the woods.. Finally we got back home safe and sound. I fixed leftovers. The men had not missed us. Ha!! Supper is over. I did get to paint for awhile I finished a little landscape of Willis Wharf and framed it. I will take that to the show tomorrow. Wish me luck.. love to each of you, take care, Diana

Sunday Painting

HI, Wow I'm tired. I've just finished the little landscape and decided to play around with this coneflower. I love negative painting. I think I like the flower best. Leftovers for supper.. Clay's been gone for awhile,so he should be close to home. My daughter,Laura, just called from Illinois and said they had to go into the basement because of a tornado watch.. That's scarey!! But she said they are fine, thank goodness. Be safe and have a relaxing Sunday night. Love to you,Diana

Weekend Painting

Willis Wharf, 8x10 framed, $99

Look how big Sadie is!! Fifty two pounds!

Two to Go to Display
HI! I did a small landscape this weekend. Willis Wharf. I enjoyed making the colors like fall and doing the little building with dry brush and that Daniel Smith Lunar Black, which is granulated.. I'll be in the Harvest Festival in October and Trisha of the Chamber of Commerce called Friday and asked me to place 2 paintings at the Visitors Center in New Church,Va. They will be having 2 pieces of art from each artist showing at the Harvest Festival. I will deliver them to Melfa tomorrow. These are the paintings I've chosen. I wanted it to be as much Eastern Shore as possible. The Blue Heron and ES Sunset.  I'm honored to have my work there.

I haven't been able to decide what to paint lately. I need a zap to get it going.. what are you painting? What has inspired you lately??

 love to you,Diana

Painting the Eastern Shore

Here's what I've been working on for the past few days. It's a mini landscape of Willis Wharf,Va.,here on the Eastern Shore. I took the photo in 1996,can you believe that? Wow.. I've loved the composition and have painted it before. I darkened the mud and added a little Daniel Smith Lunar Black to the edges. That color has the granulation in it which makes it look like dirt. ha ha.. I started to leave it with the lighter mud but then pushed the color..

I'm so excited.. Tomorrow is see the puppies day!!! I'm taking my camera.. I'll show you! I get to pick out our puppy..

I've got supper on the stove and more time(John has an appointment) so I'll put out some more paper.. what to paint now! Talk to you tomorrow.!! love,Diana

New Little Landscape

Hi,I started just a little landscape. I got some new frames in last Wednesday when we were zooming up to the vet. Fred was kind-- he left them on the front stoop with a note he hoped Daisy was better. The landscape is of Willis Wharf,a small little fishing village here on the shore. So I've been painting on that today.

The flowers here were a gift--yesterday I judged an art show at Broadwater Academy. I went to school there -just a couple of years ago.. oh ok a long long time ago!The art show was delightful, their artwork was so good and very creative. The art teachers are true blessings to the kids there. Two other artists and I did the judging and they gave us these lovely flowers.

I was sitting painting at my art table and the first female hummingbird flew up to the feeder! They are here!! I've made a large pot of sugar water and will be hanging the rest of my feeders today.

My heart is still aching. I miss her so much.I think of Daisy every day so many, many times. Thank you all for your comfort and lovely words. Love to each of you,Diana

So wishing you much chocolate and many treats, and a happy day and evening.Happy Halloween. The second photo is of my finished landscape of Willis Wharf,Va..I've enjoyed using the Quinacrodone Burnt Orange as a color for the roof and grasses. Now on to the next painting--Haha.. take care..
