Snow, phoeey...

Sadie in the snow

hi ! We got what was supposed to be a dusting last night. It turned into 2 inches of wet snow. It is gorgeous, Sadie, our dog, and I went for a walk in the woods in our backyard this morning before anything melted. It was lovely. Each leaf was coated in glistening clumps of snow.

Even though I'm not ready for bathing suit weather, I sure would like more sunshine, warmer weather, and clear roads. Tonight they say we may get 8-12 inches. This is puzzling, the Eastern Shore is known for 1 inch snows that melt as the day goes on. Sadie will definitely enjoy it and I guess I'll get some painting done.

We are supposed to have that show on Saturday. We'll see what happens each day, hope we can have it.

But, Most importantly everyone stay warm and safe, sending warm hugs, love,Diana

Orchid Masa Watercolor Finished. Let's have some Tea...

Orchids, 8x10, just need to frame it. $99.

Sadie, but she is still up and wanting to play..
HI, I finished my orchids this morning.  This is on the masa paper. See all the little cracks and crevices the paper creates.. perfect for flowers, quilts, any kind of watercolor painting. The photo I used is from the NBG class last weekend. The orchids were gorgeous. I know I've said that. ha ha.. I've been grocery shopping today and now am having a cup of tea..

Sadie wants to play some more. I don't. Nope , not at all. Just want to chill as my kids would say and watch the sun sink behind the trees.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend. love to each of you,Diana
ps. It only took me about a year to figure out how to put the Facebook Badge on.. I'm learning..ha ha.

My Booth at the Art Show.

My booth at the art show on Saturday
HI, Saturday was a busy day. We had lots of people in the morning, then it slowed down in the afternoon but I enjoyed visiting with everyone there. Here's a photo of my booth on Saturday. I sold "Gran's Iris" and a small pansy painting. My next show will be next month. I have a class in Norfolk this Saturday. Hope everyone has a wonderful week. Love to each of you,Diana

Ps. You'll never guess what Sadie, our lab did today. She and I were playing ball in the backyard. She ran right into the foundation of the house. I heard a THUMP and she literally scraped some fur off her forehead. Poor Baby.. she's ok though...

Surgery for Sadie and Heron Continues...

Out my window

Sadie's baby photo.
HI! I did paint some on the heron this morning. Just a little here and there with colors, I didn't put in the grasses or anything with him. The painting definitely needs something in that corner. Maybe I can get some grasses, I'll look around.

Tomorrow am I'll be taking Sadie to the vet. She is having her 2 canine bottom teeth pulled. I'm nervous about it, I hope it doesn't affect her bottom jaw. They are in the wrong place and are cutting into the top of her mouth. Dr. did suggest braces.. but we can't do that. I started laughing when he suggested it and he was serious. So she'll be up there for that most of the day, she's such a sweetheart. I will miss her terribly but may get to paint more. I'll talk to you tomorrow. love to you,Diana

Great Class At NBG!

NBG Class on Canna and Goldfinches

Mary in the background, Vickie and Amber with their paintings.

Marion and Mary with their paintings.

Love these gorgeous trees on the way out of the garden!
Hi! Yesterday was my class at Norfolk Botanical Garden. Amy found us some lovely Canna. Most were finished blooming. The color on these were bright orange yellow with striped leaves. First we did exercises in blending and basic watercolor, then we poured, after the paintings dried and we had lunch outside in the garden, we drew and continued to painted them. Everyone did a great job!! As I was leaving I took some photos of the banana trees?( I think that's what they are.) John, my husband, bought us dinner from El Maguey, so I didn't have to cook. I'm zonked,as usual after class.

 Have a great Sunday! Love,Diana

I've prepared some Masa paper for painting a few minutes ago. I'm trying to dry it quickly on top of the clothes dryer, I've got some outside on the porch drying too.

Hummer Gaze, 8x10,framed, $99 ps, the tail is included in the painting.

Clay and Half of Sadie
HI! I'm sorry I haven't been posting or visiting lately, just seems like I've been busy delivering paintings and taking care of Rudy our 20 year old kitty and Sadie our 6 month old labrador. Where has the summer gone?! It zipped by didn't it.  I wanted to capture the hummingbirds before they left so I've finally finished this little painting. I added the glaze of iridescent this morning and touched up the flowers. Clay, our son, is home visiting this weekend. We've enjoyed him so much. Sadie loves to play ball with him... and it tires her out! YEAH!!! ha ha.. I've been sketching while the men watch the UFC,it's mixed martial arts. I can visit while I do, I got Sadie with her head under Clay's foot,Clay talking, John's slipper and leg.. you know all the important things in life! I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend. It's Labor Day Weekend here in the USA,which means we celebrate the working men and women and the end of summer. Love to you and I'll be visiting your blogs soon I promise, Diana

Heard the Whippourwill and More Hydrangea Watercolor

HI, I'm still working on the hydrangea watercolor. I decided that lacy green one wasn't doing much --I'm not sure I remember it well and it looked too rigid so I've changed it to a lace cap hydrangea which we have in the backyard. This was one of my grandmother's-- from one of her's. She had a lot of hydrangeas near her back door. I don't think I want to detail them too much more but I do want to add the luna moth.

We are having bad weather today, a storm is coming up the coast and so it's been raining all day. Last night I heard the Whippourwill-- this bird is not a beauty but has a lovely voice-- in the back yard.. I only hear them in summer and at night. They sound so dreamy. Sadie heard too and headed for the door. She's building up her bravery slowly. A frog scared her too.  I love living in the woods.

Wishing each of  you a safe weekend with ton's of fun. love,Diana

Painting the Eastern Shore

Here's what I've been working on for the past few days. It's a mini landscape of Willis Wharf,Va.,here on the Eastern Shore. I took the photo in 1996,can you believe that? Wow.. I've loved the composition and have painted it before. I darkened the mud and added a little Daniel Smith Lunar Black to the edges. That color has the granulation in it which makes it look like dirt. ha ha.. I started to leave it with the lighter mud but then pushed the color..

I'm so excited.. Tomorrow is see the puppies day!!! I'm taking my camera.. I'll show you! I get to pick out our puppy..

I've got supper on the stove and more time(John has an appointment) so I'll put out some more paper.. what to paint now! Talk to you tomorrow.!! love,Diana
