Wisteria in Watercolor

My finished watercolor Wisteria and Hummingbird

hi, I finished  my wisteria watercolor this week. To me the flowers  flowed better, I just added a little  detail  and that felt right. The 2nd photo  is me and the 3 paintings  I have at the Norfolk Academy Art Show.  The big opening is this Saturday April 28 from 6 to 8 . You all are invited if you are nearby. The 3rd photo  is my Sadie.  Tonight we are having  a small thunderstorm and she and I have been out in the rain, me watching the beautiful sky, she tending to important doggie things.  Love to you, Diana

My Booth at the Art Show.

My booth at the art show on Saturday
HI, Saturday was a busy day. We had lots of people in the morning, then it slowed down in the afternoon but I enjoyed visiting with everyone there. Here's a photo of my booth on Saturday. I sold "Gran's Iris" and a small pansy painting. My next show will be next month. I have a class in Norfolk this Saturday. Hope everyone has a wonderful week. Love to each of you,Diana

Ps. You'll never guess what Sadie, our lab did today. She and I were playing ball in the backyard. She ran right into the foundation of the house. I heard a THUMP and she literally scraped some fur off her forehead. Poor Baby.. she's ok though...

Looks Like it's Snowing Again!!

Sadie enjoying watching it snow.

Daffodil watercolor beginning.
Hi, it's snowing again. This has to be a record for us.We don't usually get much snow at all. The temperature will be in the 40s tomorrow so it should be melting quickly. Sadie loves to watch it snow. Ha ha.. She started barking today earlier because it was very large flakes coming down. She gets up on my son's bed and peeks out the window. She's looking out there now. I started drawing some beautiful daffodils from a bouquet my mother gave me yesterday from her yard. Hope you aren't getting snow too. love to you,Diana

Peony Painting Beginnings

Drawn and started painting, I still will change it perhaps adding a hummingbird.

Sadie,playing in the snow.
HI, Well we got snow night before last. About 4 inches, not too bad really but I'm ready for daffodils and yes I have 3 crocus blooming. For me I'm always so tickled there is a flower growing in the yard!!
This was before the snow. The crocus are now covered.

I've started a new painting. Finally decided on peonies, you can see it above. I'm going to add something, either a bird or a butterfly to the top right. I love these colors. Cadmium Yellow Deep,Red Rose Deep,Opera.. We're having another Spring Show at Red Queen Gallery for the ESAL(Eastern Shore Art League), 2 pieces per member and they must be never before seen.. translation never before seen which means 2 brand new watercolors for me.With the snow it is a perfect day to paint.

Sadie, our dear not a puppy anymore, is napping now at my feet. She's been out chasing birds away from my snow day bird cake. Yesterday I made a cake for the birds(just a stale box mix) --I seem to never have birdseed.. so they get all kinds of goodies like peanut butter sandwiches or leftover cereal..  Sadie had a taste of the cake and decided she would have the rest but it's high up the tree in the bird feeder.(I hope)  The colors of the female cardinal inspired this painting and I may add one to the painting I'll see. She has been hanging around today,so have Juncos,Titmice,Chickadees and other Cardinals.

I hope you are warm and cozy today -- what have you been doing??. love to you,Diana

Tulip Petals and Sick Daisy!

Today,we've had trouble.

Last night, after Dr.Johnson, had closed his office, Daisy developed a fever of 103.. Daisy, as you know, is our lab. Normal dog temperature is 101. I knew the way she was looking at me she was ill. So this morning as soon as we could, I called Doc and he said bring her. That is to Pocomoke,Md. which is almost an hour away but off we zoomed to discover she has a uti and throat infection.. so 2 antibiotics, a shot and more-- we zoomed back home.

This afternoon as she snores nestled near my feet, I have painted tulip petals. This is so relaxing after our morning (and night). I need to get them painted as the flowers are slowly bending to the table, so first I paint the actual blooms. Then if they fall off I still have the stems to paint!!(Doc said Daisy should be better by tomorrow-I hope so.) stay warm, talk to you soon,Diana

Zooming to the Vet!

Well I had an emergency today. J. woke me at 6:30am something was wrong with Daisy--(our Labrador) and sure enough when I saw her I knew she had a temperature. She was panting with a very hot nose and not a normal pant either.

So I took her temp and it was 103.9. A normal dog temperature is 101 so that wasn't good. I got a bucket with ice water and wiped her down. She was pitiful, the soulful look in her eyes.We had to do something. I ended up taking her to our vet again. All the way to Pocomoke,Md.to Dr. Johnson. It takes almost an hour to get there. But it was worth it. He gave her a shot, more antibiotics this time a z pack and something for arthritis and sore joints. I had planned to paint all day to finish this little commission but instead I'm zooming up the shore..the photo is of our return trip going across Shields Bridge.. a tiny bridge in Belle Haven,Va.

We did stop on the way home and got her a .99 burger-(-I got this idea from my friend Susan who drives her dog,Sam to the drive up window and orders him a vanilla ice cream cone and puts it in the cup holder for him. Sam is a sweetheart--Susan is too!) and now Daisy is snoring loudly on a blanket as I paint.

I've gotten a little painting done and stopped to post this. It's a landscape of Willis Wharf again. I've used some of Daniel Smith Lunar Black on the building. This has a granulation to it, which I love for texture on old wood. I'm looking forward to Meditation Class tonight at 6pm at The Bear and Cub Coffee Shop. I can use some tranquility..what a blessing Daisy is going to be ok... take care, talk soon,Diana

The Clam in the photo of my painting is a lovely work of art by Albert Buck Doughty. I bought this from him recently. He makes it by welding parts of old plows and machinery into these amazing works of art. Google him --I know he's on Facebook.. he's a great guy as well as artist!

ESYCC, Daisy and Walk

Daisy, our Labrador, helped me this afternoon. While I cleaned out a closet, because we are having some floor work done this week, she grabbed a glove and hat to chew on. Afterward she and I had a little peach yogurt. Then we took a walk and enjoyed the fog.It was misty and cool. Have you ever walked mindfully. Thinking only of what you see, what you smell and feel. It was a beautiful walk-- everything glistening. Now with dry socks and paws( we all got our feet wet)and hot coffee, I'm going to work on this little house commission. It's only 3"by 4",a tiny painting of a tiny cottage. Oh yes, and this week I took 3 paintings to the Eastern Shore Yacht and Country Club to be displayed there for a couple of months. talk to you Soon, Diana
