Eastern Shore Landscape using Brusho

Eastern Shore Landscape using Brusho

Monelle and Willie at the ESAL Paint out at Carla's
HI Everyone, I just had a nice day at Carla's home. This was another Eastern Shore Art League Paint out. We had lunch and painted her views. I told her each window seemed to show something to paint.. Gorgeous, like the photo in the middle here. My camera stopped working of course but I got to paint, I was sitting opposite Monelle.  I painted the scene above, with Brusho. I put the warm water on then sprinkled it on.. then added a few brush strokes and watercolor as needed. It was fun. Sadie is now raring to go play and I"m tired.. ha ha.. that is the way it goes. Tell me what you've been doing. love to you,Diana

PS My show at Eastville Inn closes Saturday am so please check it out before if you can!! Thanks~

Happy Father's Day!

HI, Here is a photo from our Paint Out at Bob and Sara Lentz's home near Pungoteague,Va. This was a gathering of the Eastern Shore Art League, we all brought a dish and shared and Bob and Sara had chicken. I took my Fresh Apple Cake. We all painted inside,as it was a very rainy day but their yard is right on the water nestled in Loblolly Pines, with flowers everywhere. I was so disappointed my camera batteries died but I did enjoy painting one of his Japanese iris and had a fantastic lunch with friends. Pictured above from left to right,Willie, Adelaide, Me, Monelle, Dottie and Mary. Basil, their beagle wandered around and visited with us. ha ha. Wishing  you all a Happy Father's Day! Love to you,Diana
My newest hummingbird. I did add a few green leaves in the right hand bottom.

January Paintout of ESAL

Grace,Gail,and Susan

A demo I did of iris, painting the shadow with water, then dropping in the color.

One of Susan's dear dogs. She is 14. She doesn't eat her toys like someone we know.
HI, Today I went to the ESAL paint out in Onancock. It was so warm (friends together) and delightful. Everyone brought good food to share for lunch and we painted at Susan's dining room table and other tables thru her home.

Susan had beautiful iris in her kitchen
again, so I had to paint them.. and I showed them how to paint the shadow of the flower with clear water and then drop in the color. Sadie was waiting for me when I got home.  The living room smells like oranges as she had fetched one I had thrown out in the woods and brought it in.. ah that's my girl..

What A Place!

HI, I just came home from the Eastern Shore Art League Paint Out. It was at Carolyn's home near Parksley,Va. This was the home of Bobby Swain, the carver and his wife Terry, the painter. The little house on the dock was his studio. I could live there.. it's adorable, large windows, right on the water, loblolly pines. Here are a few of the ladies, from left to right, standing Susan,Barbara,Carol, Gayle,Monelle, and Purobe..We ate a lovely lunch of salads(everyone had made salads),painted on the deck, and just absorbed the peacefulness. Carolyn shared some begonias with us, I truly didn't want to leave.. I'm going to paint his studio.. I was so busy enjoying the beauty, I didn't paint much! :) ha ha.. and of course I got lost coming home.. ended up 2 towns north of Parksley before I found my path back.. oh brother.. ha ha. talk to you soon,Diana

Maplewood Gardens Paint Out and Class...and

HI! Yesterday I went with Monelle to the Maplewood Garden Eastern Shore Art League Paint Out. It was a lovely time. Phil invited us this year. His wife Barbara used to have us there, she passed away with cancer a few years ago and was very much missed. We all brought a food dish to serve--me--noodle salad.. and we painted around the pool and garden. I did the little pool house..it was fun just dabbling in watercolor and talking. We swam in the cool pool. (The water was cool..) Brenda declared she was a 3 noodle kind of girl as  we all took a brightly colored styrofoam noodle to float with. It was fun being with Grace,Monelle,Barbara S.,Gayle,Brenda,Dottie,Donna,Carol, Willie,Purube, and Sharon, and Phil came out to say hello.

Today I'm getting my things organized for class tomorrow. I'm teaching Painting Sunflowers in Watercolor at Norfolk Botanical Gardens in Norfolk. I had to run down to the Smiling Dolphin in Nassawadox Va. to pick up some more yellow paint.. Jenny Floyd owns and runs this art and framing shop.

The first photo is of a painting I sketched at the beach of the star fish shells. I poured after the sketch and am now defining the shells.. better get the paper and things together before painting.

Talk to you soon. Enjoy your weekend, let me know what you are working on! Diana
