This is the Onancock mini landscape. I want to add a little more blue to the water in the distance and sign it. I wet the sky and added the blue then added a few of the wispy trees including the ones in the background.. the greens and yellows diffused together. Leaving the trunks to do dry with some leaves dabbed in over those trees. My favorite leaves are from the vine growing up the pine in the foreground.
I just heard from Kendra, the puppies started on mush today and are going to the vet now. I get to meet them next Friday! I'm so excited!I hope you have a wonderful weekend. love,Diana ( I may paint some checkerboard radishes..then we can eat them in the salad!)

Ok I went grocery shopping yesterday and that almost did me in! So today I've sent the men to do my errands and crashed on the couch. Can you believe it is Christmas Eve tomorrow! I finished my commissions this week and they were picked up!!I hope to show you soon what they were.

On to a new painting!
Hi, I just finished my peony painting. Let me know what you think! It got rather involved with the leaves but I'm pleased with it.
I'm ready to work on something else now. I took some photos this week of places on the Eastern Shore the first one is in Belle Haven,Va. and the other in Onancock,Va. I want to have 4 or 5 little ES minis for the show as well as many more watercolors at the Red Queen Gallery! Maybe one of these for a mini...
Hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend! take care, Diana

Wachapreague, Va. Always Feels Like Home.
HI! This weekend I squeezed some time in while they were working out to paint so I finished this little Eastern Shore Mini landscape of Wachapreague,Va. This is where my husband and I lived the first year of our marriage and my mother and her parents all grew up. It's a little fishing village and it always feels like home.Just saying the name brings back wonderful memories of my grandparents.
I went back into my sky to make it stand out more with a wash of water and then dropped in the clouds of thalo blue and sepia with a hint of ultramarine blue afterwords. I used the palette knife on the little metal building. Just dip your knife into water then in the paint then smear on the painting. This is great for dry brush effects or a very dramatic color zing to watercolors..and it's fun!
I started another little landscape of Willis Wharf. I sold 5 of my ES minis at my last show and need to have some more for the next one. It's rainy here today, Daisy is snoring loudly nearby and I've got my coffeepot full and lots of leftovers cooked up for supper. A perfect day to paint!! take care, talk to you soon,Diana
PS The orchid I just got recently and is such a gorgeous thing.. I wanted to show it to you!

Almost Home Mini Watercolor
HI, I just put the final touches on this new Eastern Shore Mini. I used quinacrodone burnt orange in the trees and in the grasses. This is a color new to me. I like it instead of Burnt Sienna sometimes because it is brighter, almost a reddish orange.
I got the Christmas wreath made and on the front door. It's a doozy. I used a grapevine I had made a few years ago and put fresh loblolly pine, cedar, and american holly woven into the vine. It was lopsided so once I got it on the front door I simply took the scissors and trimmed it into a round! Welcoming yes, beautiful no. It smells good though.Nice bow.
I named my little painting "Almost Home" because it is a scene from the Shield's Bridge which is 3 miles from us and on the way to home. talk to you soon,Diana

Eastern Shore Mini Series
HI, I've been working on a series of little 8x10 paintings of the Eastern Shore of Va., different local landscapes but small. Here is one I just finished of Quinby,Va., I always loved and still love to go over this little bridge, it's so beautiful. It's fun to roll down the car windows and breathe in the salt marshy air and gaze at the lovely marsh and water.
The sun is just setting here and it's just the dogs and I. My husband has gone to a meeting. I walked out the driveway and took some photos of the sky it is amazing. Pink puffs and then yellow streaks.. the light outdoors now is pink and gives a pink glow to everything. So gorgeous.
Well I'd best get back to my next little mini.. this one is an older scene of Willis Wharf. HarvestFest is coming next Wednesday October 6Th and I'll be there showing my watercolors in the large Art Tent.. This I believe is their 19Th year and I've been there each HarvestFest. It is an all you can eat seafood festival, showcasing the Eastern Shore Food and Art.
take care and if you get time walk outside and enjoy the pink sky, talk soon,Diana
