Pears in Watercolor

Whimsy Pears, 8x10 framed, $99.

Coming across Shields Bridge near Belle Haven,Va.
HI, this morning I've been finishing my pears. Sipping my coffee and painting is so relaxing. Sadie is napping in her crate and doing great. Still a little stiff when she moves but I'm so happy she's doing fine. This photo is from Shield's bridge. It's about 20 feet long and we have to cross it coming from Belle Haven to get home. Always so beautiful there.

I want to start another painting. I've got class I hope tomorrow. Still waiting for the final word, do we have enough.. so I'll be getting ready. The class is on iris, I'll call around to the florist and see if they have any.

Have a wonderful weekend, and stay warm.
 Love to you,Diana

ps what are you doing this weekend??

One of those days..

Here is one of my heron paintings. I've been painting them for a few years. I love the gracefulness of the bird.  We see them all the time here especially when I go to town and cross Shield's Bridge. It's a tiny bridge but so beautiful there, the marshes and the water.. just lovely.

Well ,we've had a day. The camera still isn't doing right --that's why you can't see the new heron yet. I've added cat tails and water to the bottom of the watercolor.. Hope to show it to you soon. Right now the plumber is here working in the bathroom, he's replacing a heater.  Sadie stole, or rather thought it was hers anyway a half a chicken breast from the kitchen , while I was letting Webster in.. she was so excited to see him and Addy. I'd been making chicken salad for supper. Hope we have enough..  Of course everyone only comes to visit her, Sadie is a dear .. She also took 2 chocolate chip muffins from Monelle's purse this afternoon as she was walking up to the house..I managed to rescue the wrappings and most of the muffins.. oh dear. Well I'd better go check now we have banging.. here.. maybe I'll turn on the music for a spell. love to you,Diana

Owls in Watercolor, My Class!

HI, Here's my class today. We studied owls, Great Horned Owls. They did a magnificent job, don't you think!! It's Ron, Dory, and Bobby. We did wash studies, drew our owls and painted them, painted leaves, sweet gum and holly,. and tried our hand at 20 minute landscapes. It was a full day and tons of fun.

 J. went with me and shopped at Sam's, Barnes and Noble's, (we don't have them on the Eastern Shore). When we got home with El Maguey dinner again -- love their taco salads!--, we had 3 cats and a possum waiting for dinner.

Here's the sunset heading home, this is over Shield's Bridge in Belle Haven,Va.

Have a great weekend, love to you,Diana

Almost Home Mini Watercolor

HI, I just put the final touches on this new Eastern Shore Mini. I used quinacrodone burnt orange in the trees and in the grasses. This is a color new to me. I like it instead of Burnt Sienna sometimes because it is brighter, almost a reddish orange.

I got the Christmas wreath made and on the front door. It's a doozy. I used a grapevine I had made a few years ago and put fresh loblolly pine, cedar, and american holly woven into the vine. It was lopsided so once I got it on the front door I simply took the scissors and trimmed it into a round! Welcoming yes, beautiful no. It smells good though.Nice bow.

I named my little painting "Almost Home" because it is a scene from the Shield's Bridge which is 3 miles from us and on the way to home. talk to you soon,Diana
