Painting our Trees

My Snowy Woods, 16x 20 , $330

Painting on the porch with Sadie

Sadie, napping
Hi Everyone,  I have been painting.  New work in Lemon Tree Gallery in Cape Charles and new work in Red Queen Gallery in Onancock. I ordered 5 new brushes, rounds from Loew Cornell.  I always enjoy  playing with new brushes. I just finished painting the trees, since we had the trees cut I have really wanted to do this.

Sadie is doing fine, she and I saw 3 white tailed deer Thursday night at dusk, they were beautiful.  Sadie ran after them, I followed, she soon gave up. Thank goodness.

I start a new class at ESO in Belle Haven this Tuesday.  Wet in Wet. I am looking forward to this.  Well night ,  I am tired how about you, have a wonderful weekend, love, Diana

What happens during a snow storm. .

Hi, well we have had a time. But things are looking up, what you say??
Sadie, my lab,  had surgery on her other knee,it has gotten infected so she  is on 2 antibotics. To help in her recovery,  I am icing her knee 3 times a day and dispensing  pills, and doing  gentle physical therapy.  As it so happened, our kitty Cupcake slipped  out the door into the world  of aggressive feral cats, raccoons and what ever dropped by. I set traps, and John and I called and looked for her but when she did see us she would run the other  way...well, she is now back in..  sardines in the trap enticed her. I believe it was the answer to many prayers.
Sadie s knee is still infectioned but better.  Tomorrow I am teaching at ESO in Belle Haven, Va. I haven't been able to paint much, however  I did finish ORCHIDS. Getting organized  for tomorrow, looking forward to  it.  Talk to you sooner than later, love, Diana

Their Kitchen Wall

HI, I now need new batteries in my camera,so this is not a new photo. Here is a photo of one of my customers walls.. She sent it to me. They have 5 of my paintings there. Wow.. I'm so honored and pleased.Which ones? The bottle of wine (I'm in the reflection on the bottle),the tomatoes underneath that...they are from their garden, the eggplant next to it, then way up top the lime green tomato and under the chef, the checkerboard cherries.

Class went well, a small group. Very nice ladies, we painted landscapes. Afterwards I stopped by my parents home to see my sister,Terry, she had come over from Richmond,Va.to spend the day.  Home to check on Sadie and Rudy, the kitty.I let them out as I was unpacking and the cat disappeared into the woods, then Sadie did. They paraded out, first Rudy, then Sadie in the back with a buzzard wing hanging from her mouth.... wonderful..good grief.. I got all but one feather.. and she swallowed that.

I'm so tired. Going to go lay down. love to  each of you! Diana

Plein Aire in the Backyard!

Plein Aire

Sadie is trying out my chair to my art table..she would sit in my lap as a pup.
HI, I had a lovely class yesterday. It was small but we had a good time and enjoyed painting sunflowers. I did find some to paint from! I hurt my sciatica again-- or it continues-- now I have a numb foot up to my knee. My left side. I think all the carrying my supplies up the steps at the ESO (Eastern Shore's Own Art Center). The building is an old elementary school and it has so much charm but lots of concrete steps..I'm going to have to take it easy for a few days and I'm back to sitting on the heating pad!  This afternoon Sadie,Rudy--the 20yr old cat, and I went out in the backyard and I painted as Sadie pulled up roots, brought 7 foot branches out of the woods,(we were impressed), and ate as many crickets as she could find.

I still haven't done my second painting for the ESAL Show yet. No worries.. it's due next Thursday.. ok I'm worried. Hope to work on it this weekend. What are you doing this weekend??

 Love to each of you,Diana

Here Comes a Little Checkerboard Chicken.

HI, Ok,so technically I didn't put a puppy photo up.. :) . But you can see at the top left hand side what I have on my art table,a photo of the dear little ones. Kendra sent it this am. I print them off and put them there next to me so I can glance over and see them as I paint. I know.. silly, huh!(aren't they adorable--and one will be here soon!)

This week has been filled with exchanges. I went to Norfolk on Monday to the D'Art and picked up my work from there. I hadn't sold but I know a few of my friends did so that was good.  People liked my work so we'll see.  Wednesday, I had to go exchange my work at The Hermitage in Onancock,Va. I took 2 new watercolors up there,"Gran's Pail of Sunflowers" and "Tiger Swallowtail". This display goes down the hall into a lovely sitting area in the front of the main building. The ESAL members can display 2 pieces each. They're all for sale and anyone can go in and buy them.

The Heritage Show this weekend was nice but it rained buckets so we didn't get as big a crowd, I did sell a couple of things.(The chicken in the previous post .) I was hoping for more.  The Almost Spring Show continues at the Red Queen Gallery until the end of March..My Roses Class at ESO unfortunately was cancelled, not enough students, disappointing but on to the next class..

So, today it's cloudy and damp with lots of Juncos, snow birds, in the yard ground feeding. I'm painting on this little chicken by the window.  The checkerboard paintings are so very relaxing to me. Keep warm and have a cup of coffee or tea,  wishing you a wonderful day, love,Diana
