Begonia Watercolor,Delivering Work, and Sadie and the Christmas Tree

HI, I've been working on the little begonia painting at the top. I bought this flower early in the summer and it's been on the back porch where I can see it from the kitchen window as I wash my dishes. The bright orange is so vivid. I drew a little hummingbird to the side of the flower this morning. They--the hummingbirds-- will only be here for another month, usually leaving in September. All summer long I buy sugar just for their feeders!

These two paintings I delivered to The Hermitage in Onancock,Va. yesterday. The Eastern Shore Art League has a lovely display of art there.

A Sadie story of course.. I must tell you this silliness.. She and I were walking in the woods. ( After our Christmas Tree dies-- I place it back in the woods for the birds to use as cover or whatever.) Sadie, found the trees, grabbed one, and hauled it back into the backyard.. I was pulling on one end--and she the other.. tug of Christmas tree war.. She is so very strong and I'm not.. sheesh --where did my strength go.. anyway.. TOOT-- The United Parcel Man. UPS.. pulled up( he must have a package for John?), she stopped ,and darted for the front yard ,I slung the tree into the woods and ran to protect the UPS man.from the fuzzy yellow lab!!.Ha ha,,. If only I did cartoons..

Talk to you soon,Love to each of you,Diana

Here Comes a Little Checkerboard Chicken.

HI, Ok,so technically I didn't put a puppy photo up.. :) . But you can see at the top left hand side what I have on my art table,a photo of the dear little ones. Kendra sent it this am. I print them off and put them there next to me so I can glance over and see them as I paint. I know.. silly, huh!(aren't they adorable--and one will be here soon!)

This week has been filled with exchanges. I went to Norfolk on Monday to the D'Art and picked up my work from there. I hadn't sold but I know a few of my friends did so that was good.  People liked my work so we'll see.  Wednesday, I had to go exchange my work at The Hermitage in Onancock,Va. I took 2 new watercolors up there,"Gran's Pail of Sunflowers" and "Tiger Swallowtail". This display goes down the hall into a lovely sitting area in the front of the main building. The ESAL members can display 2 pieces each. They're all for sale and anyone can go in and buy them.

The Heritage Show this weekend was nice but it rained buckets so we didn't get as big a crowd, I did sell a couple of things.(The chicken in the previous post .) I was hoping for more.  The Almost Spring Show continues at the Red Queen Gallery until the end of March..My Roses Class at ESO unfortunately was cancelled, not enough students, disappointing but on to the next class..

So, today it's cloudy and damp with lots of Juncos, snow birds, in the yard ground feeding. I'm painting on this little chicken by the window.  The checkerboard paintings are so very relaxing to me. Keep warm and have a cup of coffee or tea,  wishing you a wonderful day, love,Diana

Display at The Hermitage

Heron ,16x20,$350.
Hi, today was exchange painting day at the Hermitage in Onancock,Va. The Hermitage is a home for retired or ill older people. It's upscale. The Eastern Shore Art League has a display there in the spacious hall. Sooo today I took in this painting and a painting of a Model T. I was going to show you but can't put my hands on the photo now. We each get to display 2 pieces and we've had quite a few sales. So that's good. It also is very much appreciated by the people who live there. Afterwards I slipped up to Amy Kay's,my cousin's, and picked up a couple of paintings I had up there, visited with her for a few minutes and decided I was close to Walmart so might as well get the grocery shopping done. I'm home unpacked and sipping coffee. It will kick in about 8pm. Ha ha.. I didn't get any painting done. I'm just too tired now. I will tomorrow. I'm looking forward to just being home and painting! Have you gotten much painting done since Thanksgiving?? talk to you tomorrow. love,Diana

Turtle Visits

HI,today was an errand day. I had to go up to the Hermitage and deliver 2 paintings for the summer display. The Hermitage is a very nice nursing home here on the Shore. Then I went over to Quinby to get some photos of the bridge buildings. I have a commission and I needed to check out everything. It was raining and I stopped the car mid road and leaped out and took photos until I saw another car coming. :)  I even left the car door open. ha ha. I was just a few minutes and there was no traffic. I came home and have been working on my little landscape. The rain is soft and gentle just what we need for the gardens and fields.  A good day to stay home and paint..well what day isn't a good day to paint. talk to you soon,Diana --ps.. I had a visitor coming down the driveway a delightful turtle so I went out and got some photos of him. He turned and headed into the trees.
