New Orchid Watercolor

Here is my new orchid  I am working on.  One of the kitties knocked the orchid over ,but I have the stem of flowers in a vase. There is something  about  orchids that I just love. I drew it and started on the large blossom first.  I have enjoyed working on it and am going to do the negative painting around the green leaves so they will be blue.  We will see if it works, I thought about painting  another  orchid behind it what do you think?? Wishing each of you a lovely  weekend and Happy  Easter, love to you, Diana

Painting Dragons ,Tram ride with Friends

hi  eveyone.  Yesterday  I taught at Norfolk Botanical Garden.  They Are having a special exhibit, Lantern Asia, this display is made mostly of silk. We painted  dragons, elephants and butterflies from this. I demonstrated how to draw the dragons and elephants. It was fun and very different from our usual subjects.  After class 6 of us went on the tram ride around the display. We saw Cedar Waxwings eating holly berries, tulip trees, camellias as well as the wonderful dragon and Lantern Asia.
I was in the city so I took advantage of it and stopped into McDonald's Garden Center, wow, they were having an open house and so many people, dogs and flowers in one place. I loved on a yellow lab puppy there, naturally and then came home with orchids.. 2 for gifts, ok and one for me..they were gorgeous.   I needed some spring.

Today is our Craddockville Church Revival, I am making brownies. Soup, subs and then a beautiful service. Three nights... come.

Wishing everyone a beautiful Sunday, love to each of you. Diana

Sadie better, Heritage Festival. ...

Me dressed and ready for the United Way  Fund Raiser.
Crocus blooming in my backyard YAAaa...
Hi, last week was too busy for me! This week has slowed  down some.  I had the Heritage Festival at the  Eastern Shore Community College on Saturday. You can see some photos on my Facebook page. It was a lovely show and I sold 5 so that was good. I went to the United Way Opening on Friday  night ( before the other show). I gave a painting  to that. Bible study  on Monday night and a special service at church on Wednesday, made food for that, and framed 7 paintings, lost electricity for a day....some weeks are like that!

Sadie, our lab, got a good report from Dr.Bailey at the Greenbush Veterinarian Clinic this Monday.  She is infection free and only 2 more weeks of resting and then anything goes! SHE IS READY. ..

I haven't painted since the show Saturday,  I have to take a few days to rest up.I have done some sketching and Sadie  and I have really  enjoyed  seeing a few things blooming in the yard.  We can hear the frogs singing too, spring is coming, tell me what you are painting, love to each of you, Diana

Painting Sea Shells, Visiting, and ESCC Art Show

Hi !! Today I took Beth and Charlie  (the black LAB) back their sea shells. We had a lovely visit, Charlie grabbed my hat. Just like Sadie does,he loves to play. Sadie couldn't go this time,we are still trying to keep her quiet as she heals.  I have enjoyed painting Beth s lovely shelbs as well as taught 2 classes with them.here is one of my little watercolors, then, my dear friend Beth and Charlie.

It is another grey cold day. I am so much happier when the sun is shining. Looking  for something  to paint today,  next weekend  is the Heritage Festival at Eastern Shore Community College in Melfa,VA.  I will be showing my lovely art there in the Atrium Saturday, Feb.27 from 10am to 3pm. Lots of local art, old tractors, BY THE BAY ALPACAS,  ES Cornmeal, so many wonderful things to see and do. Come see,if you are nearby.

Love to each of you,Diana

Camellias and Sea Shells

Hi, tomorrow  I am teaching at NBG, Norfolk Botanical Garden. I have been getting ready  all day. We will be painting  Camellias and Sea shells. Two dear friends have given me these flowers. I went over and picked them today. Aren't  they gorgeous! ! Another dear friend  lent me some amazing  shells,  2 I had to paint, you can see why the colors  and texture just drew me in.  I had  a class  this week too at ESO in Belle Haven, Va.,which is a wonderful old renovated school  dedicated to teaching art.

I am tired but ready for class. I slipped and fell yesterday  unpacking  the car. Bruised my thigh, knees, ankle, back and hip... but just my left side.. ibuprofen isn't  helping  much. I will  be  ok.. Sadie is doing better, Dr.Bailey  says we won't  know for sure  if the infection is gone until after the antibotics have all been taken. We have  been going every week to check her. John will watch over her tomorrow.  Talk to you soon, love, Diana

What happens during a snow storm. .

Hi, well we have had a time. But things are looking up, what you say??
Sadie, my lab,  had surgery on her other knee,it has gotten infected so she  is on 2 antibotics. To help in her recovery,  I am icing her knee 3 times a day and dispensing  pills, and doing  gentle physical therapy.  As it so happened, our kitty Cupcake slipped  out the door into the world  of aggressive feral cats, raccoons and what ever dropped by. I set traps, and John and I called and looked for her but when she did see us she would run the other  way...well, she is now back in..  sardines in the trap enticed her. I believe it was the answer to many prayers.
Sadie s knee is still infectioned but better.  Tomorrow I am teaching at ESO in Belle Haven, Va. I haven't been able to paint much, however  I did finish ORCHIDS. Getting organized  for tomorrow, looking forward to  it.  Talk to you sooner than later, love, Diana
