Vegetable Still Life and My Sadie

hi, Here is Sadie, our lab. She went to the doctor  today. She has an infection of her incision. She over did it at the drs. Sadie gets so excited she leaps and jumps and I am on the other end of the leash trying to control her. But she has an antibotic and needs to rest, and will be fine.

I tried to post the painting first but am still learning this tablet.  I went to this lovely vegetable stand near Harborton, Va.  Eva grows and makes everything  there, crusty bread ,soups, all kinds of fresh organic veggies. I used some of them to paint.  These are Dana, my nieces Sunflowers, gorgeous. I decided  to do the checkerboard but stopped  midway when I liked it. I did not paint each black  square.

My class was really great Saturday. The garden was so beautiful and everyone did beautiful sunflower paintings. Thank you all.

Talk to you soon, love to everyone, Diana

Spring Greens

The inspiration for this post came from my husband. Last night he came home with a lovely bag of turnip greens.. a HUGE trash bag of greens. Freshly cut and gorgeous but I knew a lot of work. So I washed, picked thru, and cooked greens before supper, after supper, this morning, and have the last batch on the stove now. They are delicious and so tender and bitter as good turnip greens should be. I don't put anything on them but some salt. Gran used to grease them with lard or butter. They had to glisten and almost glide down your throat. We try for the healthier way and they are still wonderful.

So I'm showing you my green in watercolor. I use just one, viridian. I can mix any green from that.. Here too is a vegetable painting I painted. It hangs either horizontal or vertical. Veggies have so much color. Ok,so I'll go finish my greens and then a short walk.I'll be painting in a bit. Talk to you soon.Diana

2am. Painting

Hi, I couldn't sleep last night. So I painted. I had drawn this wonderful pepper earlier in the evening. J. had been to the vegetable stand on the highway and bought some fresh vegetables. We live in the forest so my vegetable garden didn't get enough light to produce good vegetables. I've tried a few years! Ah well. This pepper just had to be painted. and so I did. ( at 2 am) This morning as I ate breakfast I put in the darker yellows on the pepper using Cadmium Yellow Deep and Burnt Sienna. Now we can eat it! take care, have a wonderful Sunday. Diana

of course, there is my constant painting companion,my Daisy.

Irridescent Powdered Radishes

HI, well, I painted some radishes. I love the color and shapes and I dropped in some iridescent powder that changes from red to blue in the last wet wash for a dash of pizazz. Radishes are fun and simple and I need both right now. I don't know who misses Dusty more Daisy,J.or me.. we all do. take care and have a fun weekend, talk to you soon,Diana
