Let's Hope--

HI! I think it's finished. I added some metallic gold watercolor to  the left top "blossoms"of color and then a little around the full bloom. I want to keep it simple to show off the stargazer.(I'll take the blue tape off before I frame it! ha ha)

Well - I'm almost afraid to say but here goes. I called about another yellow Labrador Puppy today. I'd been in the Western Auto Store in Exmore over 2 months ago... and Jason, the young man who owns the store had his Chocolate Lab walking around the store.. You know me. I was rubbing the dog's ears, and talking to him while Jason finished up with his first customer..Then I got talking about my Daisy(trying not to cry) and he said he'd bred his dog for the first time recently. I called him. So the young(Chocolate) mama lab is pregnant, his is the father and he's going to hold a yellow one for me when  it's born around Aug. 1st. or so.  He knows from xrays there are 6 puppies at least she is carrying. So Let's Hope again.. dare I.. it hurt so much before.. but I will hope... and let you know

The Blue tape is 3M Scotch-Blue Painter's Tape. I just got it the other day--it doesn't want to stay in place well, but it does peel off easily.. not my favorite, but nice color!

Let me know what you think about the lily painting. talk to you soon,Diana

Wren Finished

Hi, here is my Carolina Wren with the Red trumpet vine. I've used the vines to help your eyes go to the wren and seed pod. I also dropped some of the same Cadmium Red that I used to paint the flowers into the bird to highlight him.

This is from my flower patch in my backyard, forgive the weeds. They are just frothy background ( ha ha). Now I was surprised to see the stargazer lily blooming! I forgot I'd planted it. It's gorgeous!

well take care and have a wonderful weekend. Happy Fourth of July!
Talk to you soon,Diana

The art show continues until July 6Th at the Red Queen to see more photos of it -scroll down and hit "older posts". Thank you!

I just added a swirl of burnt sienna to the top right corner of the painting. This helps bring your eye back down to the focal point. I thought it needed it.!!

Stargazer Lilies

HI, Well today was beautiful. The weather was perfect and after I ran some errands I took my painting outside, set up a table, pulled up my porch rocker and painted. Daisy and Dusty joined me and laided at my feet. I finished my stargazer lily, now I hope to frame it tomorrow for the Garden Art Show on Sunday. It was a lovely day. Hope you have a great weekend. Talk soon,Diana

Lilies and Iced Tea

HI,Today, I've started sketching a stargazer lily painting. I just picked some spearmint growing by my front door for my iced tea and am going to enjoy working on this sketch this afternoon. I received flowers yesterday.. our anniversary and now feel like I want to paint a rose too. So many flowers and so little time! Then Anne came by yesterday and brought asparagus and I said oh no I've got to paint them too! But I did cook most of them for supper.. Oh they were so good. We had a black snake warming itself in my flower patch yesterday and I heard the first whippoorwill yesterday early in the morning. Spring must be here.. Talk to you soon! Diana
