Butterfly Morning
Well, here's my morning. The plumber came and fixed the shower and I sat down and finished my butterfly, drinking coffee on the side. I put Iridescent watercolor medium on the butterfly after I finished painting it. Just a tiny bit with water as a glaze so it would glisten, like butterflies do! I've already seen 3 tiger swallowtails just the other day. They are my favorite butterfly so far. The dogwood in the forests are blooming and I saw some wisteria in bloom.. OOOH. Now where can I get some!It grows wild.. I'll be on the lookout! talk to you soon,Diana

Two Sketches for Christmas Card Class
Hi Here are two sketches I've done to prepare for my class this Saturday.(at Norfolk Botanical Gardens--check out the right side for more info) One is a male cardinal with holly and the other is an ornament with sparkly tissue paper. I will be doing more. I want them to be able to create a card for them to take and have copies made for their Christmas cards or holiday cards.First I will have them sketch these themselves. Then paint them and I'd also like us to accomplish a few little paintings to be made into everyday notes or even just as little paintings. I couldn't find any Winsor and Newton Iridescent medium here on the shore so I bought some acrylic iridescent. I've tried it out and it seems much the same. Well, I guess I'd better go start supper for now. It's already dark outside. I know my nephew is hunting deer.I just saw him go into the forest. I saw 4 white tailed deer yesterday. They were amazing! I prefer to watch them not hunt them. take care,Diana

Iris, Class, and Happy Mothers Day
hi,I had a small class today at The Bear and Cub Coffee Shoppe. We painted Gran's Iris, I went over to her house this morning early and broke some. They are so gorgeous and smell like cinnamon and spring!!For the class today, I went over different washes, composition briefly, painting flowers, drawing flowers, mixing colors, all in a morning class. It was busy and they did beautifully.
I came home and put my finishing touches on my hummingbird, using the iridescent watercolor on the hummer.
This is my paint box. My grandfather,Jack, was a carpenter and artist. He made it.It's a real treasure to me.I hope you all have a wonderful Mothers' Day. talk to you soon,Diana
